What are all you guys drinking and recommending for wines that you are buying and drinking here in the DR? After years of buying and drinking wines in the US I am learning what to buy for quality and at an afforable price little by little.Especially reds. Price wise it seems one needs to buy reds/Spain. But that is kind of limiting, so tell me...what else is out there that you would recommend?

California reds. Cabs and Merlots. Napa and Sonoma. Caution: if you drink Duckhorn Merlot everything else you drink tastes like a 4.00 bottle of Boones Farm

If you define 'affordable', it'll narrow the search....

Some good reds in the 600-800 pesos zone... Chilean, Spanish.....

Good price range...maybe 900 on the top. For tonight I bought Mayor De Castilla 2018 Tempranillo Ribera dl Duero region for 750. We'll see.

Everyone has their own taste but for a relatively cheap price a Spanish red that I enjoy is Vina ALBALI RESERVA, under 600 pesos.

For $2000 I can then only have rice and beans for dinner. Do they pair nicely ?

Roses are great for this climate. Problem for me is I quaff them. After a couple of bottles I say”where am I going with this”? Lol

Yeah, in the DR I do what we call a " piscine ", ie a swimming pool :. 1dl of rosé and 4 ice cubes in a glass.

Pinot noir is said to be the healthiest wine, mix in some pomogrante juice and you're almost guaranteed 100 years.
