Makes me laugh. Puerto Plata just can’t wait. The absolute worst of the worst that eventually winds up here. Pizza Hut and MickeyD. And so many just can’t wait to head on over. McD better(?) than Pizza Hut? Probably cause anything (really) is better than what winds up here and called pizza. I remember Papa John something from the States arriving in Santiago I believe. Well that generated incredible excitement too. The options are not good but people are eager to try.

Funny. In the states I never go there, but here it's totally different.
In the states I never go there. I don't expect I will here, either. I did try one once in Santiago and it was worse than expected.

I tried a Chipotle in the US and it did nothing for me. What do people like about it?

I also wish the MickyDees was a Taco Bell, instead.

Nadie21, I do agree on your comments regarding pizza in the DR. I came from a town in the US with some of the best in the world.

I only like Mcdonalds and a big mac meal. And very seldom now. It’s because it was the first we saw when I was a kid growing up in Denmark. Mcdonalds were the first franchise coming in from overseas. Big deal haha

I am waiting for Chick-fil-A and Taco Bell in Puerto Plata too.
And definitely need some frozen yogurt shops

But above all I would like a Chipotle in Sosua
Chick-fil-A could take a while, but Taco Bell may begin its expansion if complaints are made to the original TB (I think its a US company) that they are missing out. I think they are present in two cities. Actually, it could be more.

Chipotle in Sosua? That's asking for too much. lol

The MC donalds on del sol in Santiago is a absolute gold mine....I think they have the francise rights for all Santiago and m,aybe more cities...............
The whole Cibao, though I'm not sure if McD continue to have the country split in two territories or everything is one territory. The expansion of McD in the Cibao includes Santiago, Puerto Plata, San Francisco de Macoris (this would be the closest to Las Terrenas) and La Vega.

McD's in SD has been expanding too. There is a new stand alone restaurant on the way to San Isidro.

I guess the era of when the DR was one of a few countries that had more Burger King's than McD's is coming to an end. Heck, I think wherever there is a Burger King not too faraway they will put a McD.

I wonder which one is the busiest Mcdonalds with highest turnover. The one on the corner Churchill and Sarasota I am sure would be a candidate with a very busy drive in.

Need a McDonald’s in PC ….getting tired of Wendy’s. The KFC in PC is not too bad …a break from the local pica pollo that the kids seem to like 🤮. KFCRD marketing on IG is effective…and the “CHIZZA” ???🍗+🍕= 🤤…the kids love it.

Am I just imagining things or did the beef in the hamburgers at Burger King in Puerto Plata taste completely different than at home?
No imagination needed. I agree. If Burger King in POP tastes that bad compared to the US , imagine how bad McDonalds is in the DR when it already sucks in the US. I don't have to imagine it, I tried it once and have no need to repeat the experience.

As for who owns Taco Bell, the parent company has been in the DR for a while with KFC and Pizza Hut:

Yum! Brands is focused on building KFC, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell and The Habit Burger Grill to be the world's most loved, trusted and fastest growing restaurant brands.

If you live in the Sosua/Cabarete area then go to La Ceiba in Perla Marina, best pizzas on the island

I like a Big Mac once a month, with fries and a chocolate sundae with peanuts -
I don't listen to the boo birds who pretend to be health nuts saying it's bad for us - so is riding on the back of a motoconcho breathing diesel fumes from the truck ahead, not to mention a likely fall eventually.
I will eat what makes me happy. You get to a certain age past 70 and you say "I'm not running marathons anymore or going on American Ninja Warrior, so I'll have those biscuits and gravy and 4 slices of bacon today, thanks"

I've gone there 3 times. First was good then the next two times the pizzas were oily and limp - so I wrote them off.
Bailees has better pizza

Enjoy life, everything in moderation.

I have been going to Ceiba since shortly after they opened. I agree that they have the best pizza I have had on the island.

Yet, It is about a 7 out of 10 compared to where I grew up, and yes it isn't always the same as another pointed out. There is no pizza in the DR that really comes close to what I had back home where I grew up.

also try coconuts at hideaway beach it was on a pare with ceiba
I tried Coconuts pizza last week. I agree that it is the closest to Ceiba Cafe that I have had. Not close to back home, but OK.

Coconuts is so much nicer of a location then the previous business that was there now that it has been rebuilt.
Better menu than the previous business as well.
