Diario Libre has published a list of seven places you can go for some glamorous camping, better known as “glamping.” The places are located in the Deep South: Pedernales; the East: La Romana and Higuey; the North Coast: Cabarete and the Central Mountain Range: Jarabacoa.

Some are more luxurious than others, but all put their guests directly in contact with nature alongside good food and sufficient creature comforts. Some are even pet-friendly.

As reported in Diario Libre, Keila Rodriguez, an influencer and adventure seeker, has offered candid peeks at each of these places, along with their contact information. For example, the Eco River House in La Romana (@ecoriverhouse) is pet-friendly. She also offers wise counsel as what to bring, such as she does regarding (@ecodelmar) in Pedernales: “Bring bug repellent...

Influencer became a profession. Comical to me, yet very real.

Ran into the "jejenes" in Punta Rucia, they were nasty.

I wonder how well the very expensive glamping businesses are doing?
The one near Cabarete, Greenland Bubble Glamping in Sabaneta de Yasica actually, is behind El Saman restaurant and I think another is planned.

I would never have thought of this as a valid idea for a business. Not ever.

Well if one must self isolate, do it in something kinda cool. You can order take out right?

The Eco River House appears to be tents set up under tarps with an outdoor shower and a patio overlooking the trees.
I love camping, but the worst thing I’ve possibly experienced is waking up in a tent when it’s hot out. So I’m not sure that tenting in the DR would be what I’d consider glamping (I think of it as glamorous camping?) based on that alone.

The day is coming that millennials will be the ones the funding the tourism industry, so maybe they will fuel the Dominican glamping scene?

Variety of glamps at Cabo Roja, ranging from $53 to $300 US. Wonder how they'll fare once the upscale crowd moves into town?

For the price, they had better be nothing like camping. And that is true. What's in a name? Many dollars must be in the name "glamping".
I don't quite get it for the price they are charging.

Are these places doing good business?

I've been here.

Fantastic.

Many of you may know Nick from his restaurant, El Conde, in Sosua. This is a great place. And Nick cooks.
