I really wish for the security situation here to be similar to the one of Spain, yes. Being able to wander the streets in the early hours of the morning (before sunrise) without feating for one's safety, as well as not getting jumpy whenever a motorista comes close, really can be priceless.

I hope the DR will be still the DR, with all there goods and sure the bads. Things always changes, some for better, other not so, but it is what it is. We can't change that, the only thing we can do is move to another country.

Or stay in the country and get out more often to a Dominican beach like below, and just chill. Pay the 50 pesos for a coconut, and drink while enjoying the ocean, and the warmth of the sand between your toes.

Well BermudaRum, Haiti has beautiful tropical beaches too with white sands, clear water and the whole enchilada. Where are the expats?

Just a wild guess, I think over 95% of the expats on Hispaniola are in the Dominican side and the Puerto Plata coast is the closest to Haiti where many expats own property and others rent. I could be underestimating tge percentage. If the DR begins to look and function more and more like Haiti, I guess a good chunk of the expats if not most will find their way to the closest international airport.

And I sincerely hope it stays that way........................
Everyone can rest in peace knowing that the Palestinians thought the same when the Jews began to arrive in masse.

Anyone that thinks that any place remains static through the years is dilusional. Places change and what that change will be depend on many factors, uncontrolled immigration is one of them. The only good thing about the Palestinian-Israeli example is that the latter made the land much more productive and organized than the former, but that's it.

Just ask the Dominicans about the period 1822-1844. Or the failed annexation with the US...........or the invasion of........

Kinda like what the Everything Surf's up Bruh - gringo's rights - save the dogs crowd has done to Cab-Sosua. Edging out Dominicans with their gated communities, where they do everything humanly possible to create their concept of Little Florida. Zero Spanish language skills and no idea where to buy a pool pump. They look for "certified" electrician and plumbers, blackball contractors they don't like and look for their missing pets on the Everything Crocs and Dentures site. The aggressive, irritable German and French shoppers who will aim for your kids with intent to maim with their shopping carts. Who's complaining about Haitians?? o_O

Your map is historically inaccurate. Pastinian land, as you and the map call it , was mainly owned by Turk and Syrian absentee landowners. GAZA was egyptian. The Dominican situation is totally different, in every way.

That map might look just a bit different if you went back to 1250BC and then went forward.

I guess the parts of Dominican land owned by many expats of this website belongs to the USA, Canada, Germany, etc

GAZA was egyptian.
Are you saying that the DR was American during the 1916-1924 occupation?

The Dominican situation is totally different, in every way.
The Israel-Palestinian example is only one of many. If you want more examples that has happened around the world for centuries, read "The Wealth and Ooverty of Nations" by David S. Landes.

What makes Dominicans so special that this tiny community will suddenly reinvent the wheel?

Like I said already, many here are dilusional.

That's a long time ago. A map of Hispaniola from a little over 80 years ago is already different as far as international boundaries is concerned.

Do you think that there are no intelligent people that aren't highly educated. There are lots of educated idiots, and there are many intelligent people that are not that well educated. You being a man of the world know this to be true.
So..you are saying Lucifer’s comment is Not accurate? Really folks you need to take your blinders off occasionally and face certain facts.
