Well, I don’t know much about history; don’t know much about biology; don’t know much about a science book; and don’t know much about the French I took, but I do know that Dominicans, in general, don’t read much.
And, yes, I’ve lived a ghetto life, with the occasional foray in the pursuit of happiness.
HAHA I learned that song in Grade eight French.

Nice the poll was modified. I voted Venezuela as worst case scenario. If I was to vote for a best case scenario I would go for Panama.

NYC, not yo papi's third world!
The Dominicans do seem to bring the worst influence from NYC and Miami back to especially the capital. I wish they would bring more of some of the better US traits. I guess they do a bit. Some come back well educated.

I think that in 5 years, the DR will be better for the haves, and worse for the havenots.
In other words better for 20% of dominicans, worse for the other 80%.
So i voted El Salvador.

Also, dr1 has been speculating a lot about education, as of late.
I believe the sad state of the education system-- public and private alike-- is not a bug in the code, but a feature.
The problem the goverment/elites are facing, is that the DR society can only absorb so much motoconchos/banktellers/lousylawyers/etc.....
And since the fertility rate is through the roof--- a nice of way saying dominicans are reproducing like rabbits, i mean where else does one see 4 or 5 generations in the same house ? -- it will be a miracle finding jobs for the whole lot. imho.

If the DR introduces Bitcoin as legal tender then they are on the way to being El Salvador. The president there is kind of dictatorial and just looking out for the oligarchy.

I voted "none of the above"

Way too many havenots.
I see it becoming more authoritarian in the future.
One need look no further than this administration's
push to turn this country into the 51st state of america.

Unfortunately with this dream comes a lot more laws
and regulations. If/ when actually enforced will end
up costing the poor lots of misery, be it financially or worse.

More incarcerated people who can't afford to buy their way
out of trouble is where I see this country's future.
Crime is not going anywhere and will be a lot worse in the
future due to all of the mistakes this government is making now.

Education is key.
The word for this year is "Ninis".

I agree, but I think that will be the situation all over the world, continuing the current trend.

I continue to say Venezuela. I am thinking of the time before Chavez when people got fed up with corrupt governments and oligarchy. Apart from keeping tourism going and trying to grow that industry I can’t see what else the new government has done. Just like Venezuela couldn’t only depend on oil the DR can’t only depend on tourism.

The new Government did lock up a lot of the crooks from the old Government................

They wish they could be like Spain. A huge step up.
I really wish for the security situation here to be similar to the one of Spain, yes. Being able to wander the streets in the early hours of the morning (before sunrise) without feating for one's safety, as well as not getting jumpy whenever a motorista comes close, really can be priceless.

And getting close to Spain's education system would be nice as well.
