Dear BBD24,

I've stayed at the Jaragua many times and as recently as this past year in the Garden Room section. The rate is about $85 a night as you mentioned. The Jaragua had to lower some of it's rates after the posh Hilton opened.

You should be fine. There is less security in the Garden Room building, but it is away from the loud casino noise which you can hear if staying in the towers.

As many have stated, the reason the Jaragua is probably not mentioned alot is because of it's predominantly high prices. I ate at the poolside grill about 15days ago and it cost me $25 for hamburger, fries and a beer.
So, brace yourself if you eat at the casino restaurants, have a massage, etc.

I've stayed a few times at the Jaragua tower and have never been bothered by the noise from the casino.

How about noise from the street ? Any problems ? Have you tried the Garden Wing ? How about the Breakfast Buffet ?

the gardens is a smaller building behind the main tower. the best thing about this is the easy access to the city without having to go through the main lobby, pass the front desk, wait for elevator, etc. tennis courts are back there too. just go out the back gate and turn right............bring a few things back to the room...........i have a 3 bedroom penthouse in SD and i wouldn't mind one bit staying in the gardens for 5 days. it is nicer than 90% of the hotels in the US at a much cheaper rate. bring good walking shoes. relax bbd24 you may have the best time of your life...............

I, too, prefer the many smaller 30 to 40 room hotels.....usually cheaper and lots of personal service and the owner/manager is usually available. I visit frequently and I not only stay at the same hotel, I stay in the same room.

I had no problem with noise from the street neither when I was at the pool.
The first time I was there I had a room in the Garden but I did not like it and moved to the tower. In the Garden, the rooms are darker and I was feeling like a long way apart from the hotel.

Don't know about the breakfast buffet.

Nah, your right. I'm pretty relaxed about it. I spent 2 years in the D.R. (95-97). I was just never in the capital area.

The last thing I want is to be worried about someone snatching my passport out of the hotel room safe.
