Anyone here using a front loader ? I have a narrow opening so I may not be able to get a big unit in
Maybe a stackable with a propane dryer ?
I am tired of the tope loader which always goes out of balance and doesn't get clothes clean

Yes! I have one that I have used for 3 years now and I know several other people that have them. The only problem is if the maid puts the sheets in the machine in a tight bundle. Then the drum bangs during the spinner cycle. Otherwise I am happy with my machine.

I have a stacker with propane.

The trick with a top loader is to load it uniformly to avoid the shakes. Also not a good idea to overload them.

Once I went from top-load to front-load I've never wanted to go back. They can take more time per load than a top-load but they do a better job. Cleaner clothes and I believe less water too.

Does anyone have anything good to say about a combo washer-dryer unit? One machine that washes and then dries?

Since I'd only really need or require a dryer in the rainy season I'm curious about a combo unit verse a (cheaper) dryer? I prefer sun/wind dried when possible but when it rainy...forgetaboutit ;) LOL

I suspect that it's best to buy both, separately, and buy good quality like LG or perhaps Samsung.

Mine is a GE. I don't think the all-in-one units existed when I bought mine.

My unit is really simple and dries super fast. I use a small BBQ tank for LPG and it lasts 6 months.
Sounds perfect. Did you buy it locally?

Yes. Got it at Radio Centro in a scratch and dent sale. The lid on it had popped off inside the box somehow, so I got it for 30K pesos.

Once they delivered it I popped the top back on with its clips, and it's worked like a champ ever since. (12 years)

Still looks like the day I bought it.

Which reminds me, the scratch and dent stuff at Radiocentro has some killer deals if you know what you're looking at.

Front loaders can become unbalanced also. Mine becomes unbalanced sometimes, causing the washer to make loud or unusual noises, to vibrate and shake. Sometimes an unbalanced washer will fail to spin or drain. I had a top loader that lasted about 25 years and I replaced it just because of it age -- a mistake. The new washer lasted about a year until just after the warranty expired.

I don't necessarily mind you editing my post but could you please do it so that I don't look like a complete psycho? LOL

6 months - what do you only own 2 t-shirts, one pair of shorts and a couple pair of underwear - that is great "gas mileage", so to speak

My Maytag died - it was here when I came and was about 25 years old - rusted and not worth fixing. Got a GE - I hate it so I'm actually rooting for it to fail.
GE appliances are not what they once were

I'm single, so there's that. Three small loads a week; only two use gas for drying, and then it's only 15 minutes or so. Small loads.

I think I may have been subconsciously rooting for mine to fail. But in my case, I ended up destroying it.

10 years ago, asked a German appliace store owner to get these for us. He figured all the costs and was less then if we imported them ourselves plus he would delivered to our house.

I installed and changed the dryer to LPG. Love them.
