Good news and more good news..............for the short/medium term;

A growing economic base and a competent government...........two important keys for continued success.

Challenges ahead for sure, but this has to be one of, or the most competent government in the last 25 years.

Certainly more needs to be done, but this government appears to understand what needs to be accomplished...........and that it will be a herculean task after years of corruption/neglect.

Time will tell, but yes lots of areas need to be addressed. Hopefully, because of the economy, this government can allocate the proper resources, AND, but far more importantly.................the proper people to get the job done. Way too much wasted money in the past.

they're not doing a really good job on fixing roads, but they have a massive effort going with asphalting streets in communities all over the country.

Bob, aren't they working on improving one of the roads from La Vega to Jarabacoa?

They're also widening the road going from Gaspar Hernandez to Moca, which is a mess at the moment.

I also drove the Carr. Touristica on Saturday and it's in the best shape I've ever seen it.

Finally, due to the high accident rate with transports. I am sceptical, bet it is a no bid contract ( to a friend) I am talking about the actual streets and routes in Jarabacoa itself.

I am seeing massive improvements along San Isidro in Santo Domingo este (ya happy now).
The road improvements are going to make a huge difference.

I see ecological being extended to Hwy 7 and beyond.

There is another road running perpendicular to the Air Force Base and I'm not even sure where that is going.

Avenida España looks completely different with many improvements to make walking along the ocean much more pleasant.
They have added additional parking and sitting areas near the water.
The night life is off the chain there and you don't want to drive down Avenida España on a Friday or Saturday night.

Ok, so POTDR has not be able to do everything for everyone.
I get that.
Even the best janitor can only sweep one corner at a time ‼️

leonel did in his first term as well, a reminder for those with short memories.
Leonel appointed and supported in his first term, one of the most corrupt politicians in DR history......Felix Ramon Bautista.

Sanctioned by the US, he was also named by Transparency International as one of the most corrupt individuals in the World.

His resume in the period 1996-2000, Leonel's first term, he was appointed Deputy Director of the Office of Supervising Engineers of State, term in which his privately held companies executed the biggest contracts of the state. Six months later, he was appointed as Director of the Coordinating Office of State Works, a post he held until the month of August 2000.

Leonel did bring about some much needed changes his first term.............but much of that is over shawdowed by what he allowed to take place.

But it does pale in comparison to the corruption that took place in the dark period that included his second term, that of Mejia and Medina.

Improving roads/infrastructure is good, but more effort towards education & schools also needed from what I read here.
I can put my kids in private school.
I can't build a road to drive on in order to get to work to make money to put my kid in private school.
I would much rather see road/infrastructure if priorities have to be set.
Just my thoughts...

Where did I say that "any figures posted are always wrong and untrustworthy."

And I wish you would stop making erroneous statements like "he just disagrees with all Dominican Government figures."

Finally, how about this novel idea, instead of attacking various posters as you are want to do................try and contribute something of substance, either pro/con to the original post.

OK. What about Tourism figures? You deny saying you cannot believe the figures from the Dominican Government on Tourism? Waiting patiently for your response on this one....................

True, I did not believe the tourism "record" numbers you were posting throughout 2021.....................and those numbers, like the hotel occupancy numbers you posted were to be polite.....inaccurate............as the DR ended 1.5 million tourists short of any "record."

And while we are at it, how about your 90+% of the people in Altagracia, or was it Bavaro/Punta Cana were vaccinated lol........when 25% of the population was ineligible to be vaccinated.

I will continue to point out erroneous numbers when I have some indicia of their invalidity.

But to reiterate, I never said ANY figures posted by the government were always wrong nor do I disagree with ALL Dominican government figures, so please stop making false statements..................and refute if you will the post...............not attack the poster.

Carry on.
