Go to www.freewill.com and fill some questions and it'll draft you up a will in PDF and print it up then just get it notarized. Done.
All legal documents in DR have to be in Spanish. If they are not in Spanish they need to be officially translated and then can be notarised.
Please remember that it's really important to get this completely right, bulletproof, hassle-free. You won't be around to sort out the mess if you get it wrong, so you need to make sure that it is crystal clear which person gets what, and that this isn't open to any legal challenges.
You hit this right on the head .. even if it's 100 % bullet proof someone will be jealous and put a claim against your will.

I know of quite a few cases where a person died and their house was cleaned out (relatively speaking) in a few days.
I can absolutely see that happening in DR. And not always neighbors/friends/strangers. Sometimes family is the worst.
Remember the story I told about my ex's father who died and his sister stole everything. That's was the thing that prompted this thread. (and my current situation as well)
I have seen this with my spouse's extended family members. The whole situation left a lot of bitterness between people. This was one of the reasons we also did a will in the DR.
I had a neighbor who died. And there were reportedly about 15 women who lined up to claim they were in relationships with him and had claims on his estate. He was a man who liked his chicas.

That's exactly what I did.
I was more interested in figuring out and organizing all of my assets and who would be the recipients.
That website is great - clear and concise and really guided me through the whole process.
It's in English, but it's a good start. I imagine I can find get it translated to Spanish either electronically or by a local translator and then give it to a lawyer.
As I mentioned before, I hope I still have a lot of time left, but I've been preparing for quite some time nevertheless.
All I really have left here is a few vehicles and household furnishings.

I didn't know this thread was so old, but I do have a question. Am I correct in assuming that only a USA notary is valid? So that I would have to go back in person to he USA and get this notarized? Thanks.
