No. he is trying monetize poverty porn.

I recently been to Haiti walked across the Dajabon/Ouanaminthe border on foot. which has a quite a few of nice big pica pollo restaurants. Took 3+ hour car ride from Ouanaminthe up to Cap Hatian at night seen vodoo in the center square, ate at normal restaurants but besides that it looks like most of DR. then back to the border at 3am in the morning.

They told me there were no trees in Haiti - WRONG!

Stopped twice at police checkpoints on side of the road pitch black roads. 4 police with machine guns. Made us get out search the car for weapons.. 2 of them spoke english and did not ask for a single penny. At either checkpoint.

Then spent the night at a nice house on the border in Quanaminthe was in a compound.

Walked back across the border. Took express gua gua back to santiago.

The only aggression I witnessed towards me was a guy standing on the back of guagua got angry when I he saw me taking photo of him riding on the back bumper of the guagua. Other than that crickets. Stopped at few gas stations typical like dr except one a guy did pull up in a red Ferrari

I think he looks for the danger zones intentionally. It makes good poverty porn and gets views.

My trip was very uneventful. I am not hatian.
This is the part of Haiti you visited according to your own post (purple line).

Regarding tree cover, you would be more realistic if you were to say "the area of Haiti that I visited looks like most of the DR," because that's what happened.

You don't have to go to Haiti again to see what much of Haiti is like. Simply travel on the International Highway that covers much of the border between the DR and Haiti like these people did.

And yes, once upon a time most of Haiti was similar to the part you visited regarding tree cover.

La Famosa and a salt bottle in Spanish.
View attachment 6416

ISM = Industria San Miguel, producers of Kola Real in the DR.
View attachment 6417

Unquestionably these are Dominican products (ISM products are actually from Peru, but all their products sold in the DR are created and bottled in their own Dominican factories).

La Famosa are all made in Santo Domingo in the corner of Churchill and Kennedy avenues. The interesting thing of La Famosa is thag\t the Puerto Rican version and the Dominican version were founded by the same person despite the Dominican division was a long time ago sold to a Dominican family. However, Puerto Rico's La Famosa products (sameones in the DR) have a Puerto Rico island image while Dominican La Famosa products have a DR image. One would think that if there was a La Famosa Haití it would have a Haiti image.

It's hard to say what salt brand that is, but that is Spanish so most likely from the DR.

Heck, even the Louisiana spicy sauce despite being American could had been imported for the Dominican market and from there found its way to Haiti.

I wonder if they are legitimate imports or contraband to Haiti.
Regarding La Famosa, there is a Haitian version that makes products in their Haitian factory. However, notice the Haitian labels are in English and French (Dominican La Famosa is in Spanish) and the logo is of the entire island instead of just Haiti (Dominican La Famosa has just the DR). The ones in the video appear to be the Dominican version.

So there you go. When in Haiti, if you want to support Haitian productions and Haitian workers, buy the one with the correct logo, are in English and French, and has the Haitian flag on a corner. If you buy the one with the DR logo and in Spanish, not only are you supporting Dominican productions but most likely it's contraband and in detriment to Haitian productions (we all know Haitians need help in job creation more than anything).

This videos is just for monterzaion to make money, thats all.
Yes, he's a professional Youtuber. People earn a living from publishing videos and you get paid on the number of subscribers and views. So if yo make crap videos you don't make any money. Some people make an obscene amount of money from posting videos like unboxing the latest gadget, cooking etc, fixing stuff etc. I personally follow a few YouTubers that create great content on topics that I am interested in, such as fixing old cars, flying small planes, crypto currencies, cooking etc, and this guy came up on my feed.

He makes his money by travelling to different countries and creates very well produced and intelligently scripted films all by himself. Is he an idiot? I don't think so. He heard that Haiti is a dangerous place and went there himself to find out. Just like he did when he went to North Korea or Lagos.

He doesn't appear to have a political agenda and has posted his video warts an' all so that people like us and see the true desperation going on there right now.

Are you going to slate him from earning money like that? It's what he has chosen to earn a living. And what an interesting life he has.

I his own video he states he is not a journalist. That is not an opinion. You are simply wrong if you still say he is a journalist. No opinions are needed.
Thank you for letting me know. A pleasure to hear from you again. I said in my previous post that I am not going to argue, or this could become one of your pages long feuds which, I believe, get you a break from DR1 from time to time. I don't wish to join you.

You're right. I just figured out that I had accidentally clicked on the mute icon in the browser tab. After 10 seconds of that I reclicked it. Still, they had a good time and I'm happy for them.
A DJ can only work with what they've got.
