Dominican baby boy gets honor of being eighth billion person

Planet Earth’s Baby 8 billion is recorded as having been born in the Dominican Republic. The symbolic selection has been globally assigned to baby Damian, born in the Nuestra Senora de la Altagracia public maternity hospital in Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic. Baby Damian received a celebratory t-shirt.

He weighed 2.7 kilos and was 52 centimeters.

The child is the symbol of the event that the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has been warning us about for days — that the world population continues to increase in leaps and bounds.

The birth took place “without any complications”, the hospital’s director of gynecology Michel Trinidad told local media.

Baby Damian was born to 35-year old Damaris Ferreras Mateo, a single mother who is unemployed and lives in a rented house. She has an older son who is 16 years old. She requested assistance from President Luis...

I am giggling. This woman gives birth to a baby, which happens to be the 8 billionth person on the planet (how they work that out is anyone's guess). And as soon as she realises she's a little bit famous, she wastes zero time in reaching out to the President and Vice President to ching-a-ling them both and request some help. Got to love a chapeadora.
