Dominican Association of Engineers, Surveyors and Architects (Codia) protests that the government has plans to hire international engineers to assess the vulnerability of public works that are more than 15 years old.
Following the collapse of the wall at the overpass on 27 de Febrero Avenue with Máximo Gómez last Saturday, members of the Dominican College of Engineers, Architects and Surveyors (Codia) rejected the announcement on Tuesday, 21 November 2023 that the government would entrust the assessment of tunnels, overpasses and underpasses to international consultants.
“What we do not understand as Dominican engineers and with almost 50 years of professional practice, is that the President is talking about hiring and consulting international engineers if we have here technicians to evaluate that entire circuit,” said engineer Nelson Núñez.
