From the DR1 article:
"A series of measures, he said, will ensure that children learn to read and write correctly by the end of third grade"

What is currently the goal or the curriculum, when are kids expected to read and write as per public school curriculum? Am I right thinking expecting kids to be able read and write "correctly" at the age of 9 (?) is a bit late?

The phrase "Dominican Republic strives for quality education, Politicians want to control the appointments", is an oxymoron.

Stop hiring teachers for life. Do not only train teachers- equip their classrooms. Give school and district report cards. Publish this information.

I do not understand why this country always gives a pass to education.
