Prepare your self.... i heard rumors that aa and some others are planing the same. Just to much headache for them.
The whole world seem to turn into a "Service Desert", you are welcome to pay just don't expect anything in return for it.

Miami, the people that ruined it are the losers that bring on large dogs that smell like barn animals and call them service animals. More complaints than it was worth. I will say I would rather sit next to a gentleman with a small dog than a screaming kid or a drunk CEO yelling on his cell phone preflight.

I was thinking, having traveled by air with a dog, what's so special about the DR that they would ban this in the DR in particular, but appears that this by all means not a "only in the DR" thing:

They treat the same way every single European and UK airport as well, going to / coming from and a few other countries...

You have to buy a ticket for your pet, I think that is only correct? Service Animal at least with Condor is free of charge but the airline can decide themselves whether or not an animal qualifies as a "service animal" in case there is doubt. If not, it will be treated as a pet and has to have it's own ticket.

I will sit next to a large dog rather than a fat woman who demands the window seat then gets up every 20 minutes for a bathroom trip.
Seriously I would rather fly on a 747 full of dogs than people.
At least there would be room in the overhead for my small duffle

I found your comment this morning after I tried to book on JetBlue with my pet. You mentioned that you rebooked on American Airlines instead, but they’re not allowing pet between the Dominican Republic and US either.

Last time ( 2 weeks ago) you could fly with a small animal below the seat. No "checked" animals are allowed already for several month with aa.

Spirit Airlines has filed for protective bankruptcy and Jet Blue may not be far behind. Jet Blue is predicting decreasing revenues for the next year, their debt load has increased, and their credit rating has been downgraded from B to B-. Getting animals on board may not be the bigger issue. Less seat capacity and increased prices may be problem. If you buy the cheapest seat on Air Canada, they levy surcharges for seat selection, meals, counter check in, luggage of course and a charge for your carry on. They are following WestJet’s lead. Can bringing your own toilet paper be far behind?

I just booked my ticket to DR for 12th February and advised them I was taking my service dog .I purchased a seat for my dog due to the fact he is 103lbs and it is not workable to have him sit in front of me and the seat in front .To fly with Jetblue you need to have the dog registered with "OPENDOORS " They check all your paperwork and that the dog is upto date on all his shots .
Since April of this year you also need to fill out an Import form with the CDC in order to bring the dog back in with you .
If the dog was smaller and could sit in front of you the dog would fly for free .
I have never had a problem caused by my dog on any flight to the DR or when I flew to Ireland .
I find the people who avail of the Wheelchair to get first on the plane with their whole family in tow more annoying than any dog .....and when the plane lands they have been cured and are first to stand up and block the aisles while they wait for the doors to open

Geez, that doesn't happen to me when I fly. I require a wheelchair in the terminal, and always have to wait for the plane to totally clear before being able to deplane.

The reason Meemselle could be because you NEED the wheelchair ..it is not just an excuse to get you and your brood on to the plane ahead of others

Tolerated until it was abused.
I don't care to sit next to drunk people or animals or people who behave like animals. Works for me.
