Well if you want to use Tik Tok after Sunday in the US or download it from the Google or Apple Store you will be S.O.L.

Interesting but does this affect the DR? Will this cause an issue using Tik Tok in the DR?

Tik Tok will be only banned in the US, the rest will operate. The fun begins at 12:01am on Jan 19th

Maybe not - I'm not sure if Google and Apple remove it from their App stores for download outside the US?
That will be interesting to see. I like TikTok and can't see it is worse that the other SoMe platforms.

In order for this thread to remain open posts need to be DR related to Tik Tok. Has anyone (newspapers, etc) been talking about this issue in the DR, although it seems it won't affect usage in the DR.

I don't know how it works exactly but the Apps used in the DR aren't they from the US Apps Store and Google Play ?

My grandsons are here in DR and they tell me as of 19th it will disappear from the App Store. Those who now have it will not get any updates, and older one(college) says without updates it will slow down so much that no one will use it.

Does the App Store distinguish between people in USA and those in DR?

Rumor has it that MrBeast might aquire TikTok, it then becomes a US company, so um-banned.

Not that I care about any of this.😆

The SCOTUS ruled to uphold the ban on Tik Tok

Kevin O'Leary has a 20 Billion USD offer on the table to buy Tik Tok

Kevin said any company continuing to support Tik Tok in the US after the ban will face MAJOR fines.
Kevin said if Tik Tok does not accept the offer, he feels the real reason for the App would be to steal user's data, his opinion, not a fact that can be proved.

A Trump EO may not be able to overrule a law enacted the the US Congress that was signed into law. That would probably require quick action by the SCOTUS and I would guess the EO would be blocked, but just a guess on that.

So the risk for Tik Tok and any company supporting it in the USA (Apple and Alphabet, etc) is extreme because of the huge fine potentials.

So, this is not really affecting anyone using it in the DR? This does not seem to be DR related.
