It’s hard to understand what an American family was still doing in Haiti. What is known now is that one US family from Texas that traveled there for missionary work had been trying for three years to leave.

Their story ended well and they were rescued by Project Dynamo and brought to the Dominican Republic on Monday, 27 January to be later flown to the United States, as reported in Diario Libre. Project Dyamo has carried out numerous rescue operations from Haiti in the past, too.

Project Dynamo revealed in a press release that after weeks of meticulous planning, a team of US military veterans from Project Dynamo successfully conducted a high-risk rescue operation of an American family from Haiti on Monday, 27 January 2025.

The mission, known as Operation Yellowtail, faced extreme danger due to escalating violence among rival gangs in Haiti...

She, the nanny, will just end up getting deported when all is said and done.
she might get a short vacation in GTMO, it's actually really nice there, it's been a while but as I remember the "O" club was really nice, but I doubt her 'status' will get her in

My mistake. That's not the nanny, it's the gentleman's Haitian wife. I wonder if she's legal.

Ah, well that changes the optics and who knows about if she is legal already. Totally different scenario with her being the wife.

There is no way I know of that an individual can sponsor a "non-relative" privately to enter the USA, so being a nanny made no sense.
My guess is that she is either legal or will qualify as someone who can get adjusted status to be legal.

Technically no, but a non-relative can be a sponsor on the I 864, affidavit of support.

It is, but obviously there are some stupid people from the USA still in or going to Haiti.
Wow.
Perhaps I have it all wrong?

After giving it some thought, maybe we should encourage more stupid bleeding heart Americans to travel to Haiti.
