I was browsing X and saw this post. I'm not sure if it's heard on news. Can anyone down in DR to check on news media anywhere? I'm in the states at the moment. As I can see from the video, it seems his short went on fire when he was laying on the wires. I mean, if he knew it's dangerous, don't go up to get his kite. Just make new one.

I don't see how it's possible, but a couple posters said the kid survived(?). Haven't heard anything about it here on the north coast.

I remember reading stories over the years of people doing similar things.

Years back in Cab, a gal who worked for me lived next to a house with a tin roof; and next to them was a concrete structure with a flat roof where kids played. Well the kids were playing hide and seek and one ran and tried to jump from the concrete building to the tin roof. Between the two houses was a chain link fence. The kid got snagged on the fence but one foot landed on the tin roof where there was a wire with a short under the roof line. Well the kid slumped over dead and somehow neighbors were able to get him off the fence and an ambulance took him away. At the clinic they jumped him and saved his life. Unbelievable story. I don't know I assume they were doing CPR along the way.

It amazes me there are not 100+ people per day electrocuted in DR.
The complete lack of safe wiring, done by shade tree electricians, the scoflaws climbing poles to steal power plus the complete Chinese garbage electrical panels, breakers and wire sold in cheapie fereterrias is a recipe for death.

The one post that sticks in my mind is the two guys who were urinating on a ground based transformer cabinet and we’re electrocuted. I think one guy survived. The fault was a bad ground and, of course, stupidity. These transformers are well placarded with high voltage and danger signs.

We just had all our wiring from the street to the house replaced this week. Mr AE was concerned because one section of wire used to touch the metal roof of the little building that houses our well pump and gardening appliances. Our whole house voltage regulator (cebolla) is in there too. He was afraid windy days would fray the wire and allow contact with the roof and kill somebody.

I hope you paid the extra for copper wire - it you went with aluminum you will have issues soon

Did what with your car?
I used a small piece of aluminum wire to connect a running lamp to an existing circuit with copper wire.

The running lamp quit working, and there was nothing left of the aluminum wire.

Very sad, but really happy but he's alive. He's 12 and it will hopefully be a lifetime lesson.
Makes me believe in the old adage , “God protects children and fools“ NSP. His permanent burn scars will be a constant reminder of his stupidity. Whether or not he learns from it remains to be seen. He’s lucky he still has all his limbs intact.

Had a new meter added to my house and requested copper for the wire to connect to the street. EDDESTE told me I had to buy the copper.
