If this young bloke stopped by the front desk and reported that his swimming partner was in distress this would not even be in the news. However, he decided for whatever reason to take the attitude "it sucks to be her" and went to sleep. Then decides to give the P.D the run around.

I really must admit that, again for me, I am not convinced that there was a 4 hour nap after this alleged "dramatic" rescue attempt. Until more witnesses come forward or any other circumstantial evidence presents itself, he shot himself in the foot, in my book, with the conflicting stories and sleeping off the day. Skipping notifying anyone, either immediately upon exiting the water or before he went up to his room, is horrific optics for his case

I disagree. That would look even more suspicious for him since he told the police that last he saw her she was walking knee deep in the water.

How would it look if he told the front desk she was in distress and he laid down and just let her drown?
You keep rehashing more of the same. I think this may be a case of chicken or the egg. If "I last saw her knee deep in the water then I passed out" or "I fell asleep for four hours" were to be the truth, then there is nothing to hide or withold. There is only ever one version of the truth. When you tell the truth you have nothing to hide. You can't have both.

In 6 months time from now if you are right and he is in fact charged with murder not even convicted but just charged with murder I have to pay 1,000 pesos to EVERY member that posted in this topic as of today. If he is NOT charged with murder in 6 months than you have to pay EVERY member that posted 1,000 pesos .

This is just a friendly way to keep DR1 interesting. Is it a deal?......
Does this also go for a CIVIL case ?

That red flag flies often
For what guests pay they should get a larger more prominent flag. I don't know how large the beach is itself, but a half flag may not easily be noticed than one that actually flies
before he went up to his room
If this young bloke stopped by the front desk and reported that his swimming partner was in distress this would not even be in the news.

Taking just the interview (as-is) into consideration, he woke up under attack from mosquitoes, never went to pick up his things which included his hotel key card for unknown reasons, went to his friend's room for his phone, and then supposedly went to his room with no key card.

It makes one wonder if the "lost" key card was a flawed alibi creation especially if the door or hotel system was advanced enough to log entries when he was allegedly asleep or passed out on the beach for 4 hours.

Did he perhaps give the key card to someone else during the 4 hours before he was back on the hotel property? Assuming no premeditated moves, without the key card, he could have gotten to his room, been unable to enter and then had to go to the front desk or he would have thought to go back to the beach, where he last was to check on his things (he did not do that)- if he did indeed remember what happened before he woke up.

The interrogators could have perhaps asked him what he mean't by helping her breathe, was she already unconscious? He claims he lost consciousness a couple of times, but somehow managed to get her to the beach and put her in front of him (contradicted by another statement). If one looses consciousness, and was helping someone one would let go of them or are those explanations for what his mind did not allow him to disclose or remember?

I'm not rehashing anything. I simply said that gong to the front desk as suggested and telling them she was in distress would not have helped him in any way. In fact, I think it would have made things worse for him.

sometimes when the police interview here they beat you into telling a lie just to make them stop.
I really think this kid is innocent the only thing he is guilty is is trying to get laid if that's a crime.
and from the photos of her and him It looks like she was happy with him.

There is not just one red flag, there are several along the beach at the various resorts / various spots.

Can you imagine being questioned over and over again, for hours. Then on top of that you are in another country where English is not the "official language".

This is the CORE of the Case .... as some of us have said til we are blue in the face.

WHEN ONE IS INNOCENT OF ANY WRONG DOING , ONE TELLS THE TRUTH, ONE SHOULD NOT CARE WHAT IT"LOOKS LIKE" to a Front desk Clerk or Security

This dude cared more about GOING BACK TO SLEEP and not having his Day disrupted, than the Life or even whereabouts of this Girl

HOLEEE Jeeesus are you people for real ?
