I do clearly recall another case in Sosua, where a guy DID pay exacly $50 K , exact amount to get OUT of the DR.
His offense was not having a Licence to FILM with a Crew . Nothing anywhere even near as serious as this young man's situation.

It would really be beneficial if people would post a link to the things they are referring to. I thought that was supposed to be a general requirement. It would definitely make it less likely we'd have to read all of the personal opinions based on nothing. We may have a right to free speech in general, if not on DR1, but if it's merely opinion that isn't and can't be supported what value is it.

As said many times here you can't get the right time from the US Embassy in SD. They gave him a new passport without the stamp necessary to use it on the passport..........

Since there is no body and no proof of his involvement in anything illicit, there would have been
NO REASON TO PAY ANYONE OFF! He is going home a bit later than he should have been allowed to.
The DR government was still illegally holding his passport, so he quickly was issued a new one.
Other than further conjecture about what happened, that is all she wrote, the fat lady has sung, the game is over and at the end of the day, the bottom line is
there is a 99.9999% chance the missing college student's remains will never be found.
