It would really be beneficial if people would post a link to the things they are referring to. I thought that was supposed to be a general requirement. It would definitely make it less likely we'd have to read all of the personal opinions based on nothing. We may have a right to free speech in general, if not on DR1, but if it's merely opinion that isn't and can't be supported what value is it.
I agree, yet on the other hand some links are as unreliable as the post itself.

So, if his emergency passport was issued on 19 March, and had an entry stamp into the DR backdated to, let's say 1 March, would Homeland Security have been okay with that? Also, I think emergency passports must look quite different and also expire rather quickly...and probably show where they are issued (in this case SDQ). I'm not sure the Embassy messed anything up.

The US Embassy doesn't have the authority to put an entry stamp in the emergency passport, that would have to be done by DR immigration. I think most likely his passport was missing an exit stamp when he left the DR. They probably just waved him on through.

That was already posted here as the problem. But the US Embassy should know that he needed something to cover this missing stamp. Maybe a contact from the Embassy. They did nothing................And he was not waved through. Questioned by Homeland Security and hassled like they do to most anyone they encounter.........

What I saw posted was he was missing an entry stamp into the DR(your post 1176). I never saw he was questioned by Homeland Security while leaving the DR - in Puerto Rico, yes.

I think this has more to do with what recently happened than with the stamp, anything they need to know is already in the system they can see all his travel details and are no doubt aware who he is since HSI was part of the investigation. There is a lot of leeway at entry points to do warrantless things.

True. Mainstream media rarely gets all the facts right. I wonder what his status is? He should already be on a flight out of PR.

The US has gone stamp free, as do several more countries. I've not personally seen them analyze passport stamps in the last few years with a high level of detail. It's usually a quick flip through and focus is on the biodata page. As long as answers align with what they see in the system (how many days, where did one go, photo etc) its usually quick and easy.

I dont know , and we never found a real SOURCE for the 50 K Wire Payment
Was it from his Parents . to the Lawyer ?
I do clearly recall another case in Sosua, where a guy DID pay exacly $50 K , exact amount to get OUT of the DR.
His offense was not having a Licence to FILM with a Crew .
Nothing anywhere even near as serious as this young man's situation.
He was on the next plane out as well.
Quite a Coincidence in terms of $ and Timing .
Could very well be just the ATTORNEY FEES though , for doing a Proper Job . and guaranteed outcome
Don't shoot porn in the Dominican Republic.
Problem solved.

The FBI was on this one within 48hrs. No way in hell was this young man in a position to buy his way out of trouble.

Not really true, his "new passport" would have a different control number. Normally when you get an emergency replacement passport you are provided a letter explaining why, I know this from personal experience. The only way they would know if he was a part of an investigation is if there was an impedimento de salida placed on him or they read/watch the news.

High stakes for sure. This should be a wake up call for all DR agencies involved in the investigation, including DR Tourism, and AI resort owners. You cant do the minimum and expect incidents like this to go away quickly. Once outside enforcement agencies get involved the media frenzy starts and things can get out of hand quickly. If the family of the missing young lady files a lawsuit against the resort for negligence or the Riibe family files a lawsuit against the Justice department for unlawful detention, it will be even more of a wake-up call. Whether they heed it when they respond to the next high profile drowning accident remains to be seen. The unrestricted flow of alcohol mixed with young people trying to compress as much fun as they can into one week makes a deadly mix.

@Posts 1196 and1197 who are you suggesting will forget? Clearly not the parents of the missing girl? Or maybe you mean lover boy and his parents? Or perhaps law
Enforcement agents in two countries that don't agree with the justice dept ?
