Second on OnePlus. I started with a 1 and bought every new model when they came out. When the 1 came out, it was better than a Iphone in terms of capacity, speed, options, everything but the camera, but even that was on par with the Iphone. You could try the relevant XDA forum for the phone and see if you could reload the stock image or a custom image : https://xdaforums.com/c/samsung.11975/
But please note you might have to wade through a lot of posts to find something that fits for you.
I gave up on Samsung after they made it quite hard for custom ROMs and switched to OnePlus and of late Asus (though Asus does not have great support in terms of community or even cases)
Thank you. I'm honestly embarking a whole new journey here, as even though I work with technology, I have hardly ever done anything with smartphones. This is an older phone not used by anyone actively, but it could work well for someone...You could try the relevant XDA forum for the phone and see if you could reload the stock image or a custom image : https://xdaforums.com/c/samsung.11975/

Be careful then. I ended up bricking my old Samsung Galaxy S3 back in 2017 while trying to put in a custom ROM. That said I was able to return my OnePlus 3T to stock ROM and use it as a backup of a backup till date. I find that after 3 years phones becomes quite slow and depending on the manufacturer, no new updates/security patches are available. However, a shop that does this for a living might be able to do this in a better way but sadly I do not know of any. Good luck!Thank you. Plaza Internacional and Colinas Mall are the epicenter of reliable iPhone/Android repair shops in Santiago. The repair shops are all located on ground floor in both malls in the small booths on each hall.Looking for a smartphone repair shop for a Samsung Galaxy phone, the problem is not the hardware, but software, as the Android system is not loading properly. Any tips/experiences? Thanks very much!

There are several scattered around the downtown/ central Santiago area with two or three located on Calle Del Dol.
I would think it's possible depending on what is damaged. Thanks, looks like a trip to Santiago in the near future. We have to go there anyway, so might as well give it a shot. To clarify, this is in fact my wife's older phone, we both have the habit of not wanting to throw any stuff away, so even though she's not actively using that anymore, she wants to have it as a back-up device or just for the sake of taking photos. She has taken it now twice to a local shop in POP, and they suggested doing factory reset, but the trick is that if at all possible, she would not like have any data deleted (yes, backup of the data would be good....), so we'd like to proceed a bit carefully if possible. To be honest, I have no idea if fixing the phone anymore without losing data is possible, and she's kind of giving up on that as well, but thought we'd try once more, even if it has to be in Santiago...

Yes, we have multiple Google Accounts we could use. And factory reset is obviously not a problem at all as such, you are right, that does clean the phone. The problem in this case is that backing up the device to Cloud while it was still working properly was unfortunately neglected... Now fixing that damage...Do you have a Google account you back up to? Do a factory reset yourself. You can even switch to another phone and Google will repopulate it almost completely.
Sometimes doing a factory reset is a good thing. Gets rid of all the junk that's accumulated.
You may want to confirm. Mine does the backup automatically.Yes, we have multiple Google Accounts we could use.
