This is my first time in the Dominican Republic at this time of year and I'm really disappointed with the volume of seaweed I have to navigate before I reach the sea (Uvero Alto).

Which is the best, seaweed free, publicly accessible beach on the east coast, ideally for a bit of paddle boarding? I don't mind driving but not too far!

Thank you!

Playa Los Corales – Located in the Bávaro area, Playa Los Corales is a lively beach with a mix of public and private access.. This is what you are looking for........

If seaweed is here now, it will be more or less the same amount of it anywhere on the east coast. They clean the sand in front of some resorts, but that doesn't solve the problem, the water is still full of it.

Go to Boca Chica ...they have a sign up ...NO SEAWEED ALLOWED ...TOURISTS ONLY
You forgot to mention that anyone who swims at Boca Chica beach comes into contact with 2 kilos of excrement. :)

As well as garbage and bad smell.

∆∆∆∆∆ which always made me wonder how two top tourist restaurants attracted their customers at outrageous prices.

Normally the beach area around Bayahibe does not have the same issues with sargassum as the Punta Cana area beaches.

That might be true, a few years ago when there was another big sargassum invasion in Punta Cana, I went to Cadaques in Bayahibe. There was no sargassum at all, BUT the beach in front of Cadaques was the best way to break your legs, because there are so many big rocks in the water, and the water is not really transparent there, so you can easily break your toes or feet or legs by hitting one of those rocks. I was wearing crocks, and anyway it was not pleasant to go into the water there, I just letf the same day and drove to Las Terrenas where sargassum problem did not exist either.

A long shot indeed but one of the best beaches in the world for swimming.
According to whom? Somebody who did not see any better? Sosua beach is just a small beach, nothing special, there are thousands beaches in the Caribbean better than Sosua beach.

There are some beaches in the Caribbean that are truly ones of the best in the world, but none of them are in DR.

According to me. A tall fit white dude who's in good physical shape.

I disagree.
As far as swimming is concerned taking into account the tides, the current, the marine life and safety?
Sosua Beach is within a bay protected by a reef and it's about as safe as it gets for people who enjoy swimming.

Maybe Boston Bay just outside Port Antonio, Jamaica is as safe but with a lot more rocks along the ocean floor.

I can't think of any safer. The rest are wide open and a lot more dangerous.

As far as beauty is concerned.. opinions vary.

One of the Best Beaches in the World is in the DR..............

Playa Rincón is a tropical wonder that you must visit on your trip to Samaná Bay. This is considered one of the best beaches in the world due to its turquoise-blue water, 2.5 miles of fine white sand and lush surroundings and can be found approximately one hour away by car from our Marina in Samaná
