Happens all the time. Just doesn't make the news because they come from countries like Ukraine, Cuba, Colombia, India and that third-world shithole France.
Proof? As I mentioned, I have never heard of any gringo being screwed on the north coast for being illegal on a tourist card after 30 days. Not one.

Are you referring to their melanin content? Many Cubans and Colombians are mainly of European descent. We have quite a few Colombians here in Jarabacoa.

Only when they had that crazy round-up several years ago when many shocked and scared snowbirds were carted out of supermarkets and the like. It caused quite a panic at the time but was never repeated and who ever had the brilliant idea was probably fired.

That was a one off where all the illegal gringos receieved an apology and it never happened again.
Sadly.

Illegal gringos should get the same treatment as what the DR calls illegals.

Would you announce that in a public venue away from your keyboard?? Example: In a restaurant that you occasional perform in.
Honest answer (non conditional please).

I don't have any political or social messages to deliver when I do gigs. So the anwer is no.
There is a time and a place for everything.

Are there plenty of illegal alien musicians playing for money? You betcha. They don't consider it to be working.

Nobody likes a tattle tell Windy.
Their main focus is deporting anyone who's in the country illegally.
Do you not read the national news?

You can call them foreigners but most from Cuba, Colombia and India are not gringos.
You can call them whatever you like. Illegals are being deported from this country on a regular basis regardless of where they are from.

I read a lot. Including this site : https://migracion.gob.do/noticias/

They have never to my knowledge deported anyone from Cabarete or Sosua that is an illegal overstayer of a tourist card.
The government simply does not care how long people from tourist card countries stay, drive, work, etc..

The euphimism "illegal" means only Haitians to the DR government. Some might think this is correct and fair. I am not one of those people.
Once cannot deny they do spend some money, but that does not make it right.

I can only think that your life would be less stressful if you could ignore the things you cannot change.

Does it have anything to do with the people from other countries spending thousands of dollars on food, lodging and shopping?

It's a combination of history and numbers. Haitian aggression and huge numbers of them.

But if it is something you truly believe (which we all know you do) wouldn't that be the perfect scenario to get "your" opinions across. You take most every opportunity to voice/post your opinion here on DR1, why not take it the masses. Maybe see how that goes.

Sadly.
Lets up it to a two off as I remember a report of a black gringa from Atlanta being thrown in the back of a police truck while walking on the beach in Cabarete, and then transported to jail in Puerto Plata. After a few hours the police realized that this one wasn't like the others so the let her out in Puerto Plata to fend for herself.

It is not true that the DR has never deported any overstay visitor (other than Haitians)from cabarete or Sousa. You can get all the data from ChatGPT .I used the following query: Has the Dominican government ever deported anyone from Sousa or Cabarete for overstaying a visitors visa?
You will see it is"uncommon"BUT has been done. They site years 2015 17 and 2023.
