Port-au-Prince.- The United States government has issued an urgent alert to its citizens in Haiti, advising them to leave the country immediately due to the escalating crisis and widespread insecurity. The warning, released by the U.S. Embassy in Port-au-Prince, highlights the growing danger posed by armed gangs, which have seized control of large portions of the country, making travel and daily life increasingly perilous.

While the embassy did not provide specific incidents prompting the alert, it strongly advised U.S. nationals to avoid all travel to Haiti and to leave as soon as safe evacuation options are available. Commercial flights from Cap-Haïtien and Les Cayes are still operating, though travelers are urged to proceed with extreme caution. The advisory also warned against relying on private helicopters, citing additional security risks associated with such transport.

In parallel, U.S. officials are pushing for stronger international action, backing a Kenya-led multinational mission supported by the United Nations to help restore order in Haiti. The crisis is expected to be a central topic at the upcoming Organization of American States (OAS) General Assembly in Antigua and Barbuda, where new resolutions are anticipated under the leadership of Secretary-General Albert Ramdín.

I sent the DT article to my friend Tiblan, the guy who stayed with us for a time. This is his literal English reaction.

I saw this news but I didn’t know if it comes too far, but why the world saying like “everywhere in haiti occupy by gang” that’s not true I’m living in okap we’re safe and everything working well for now, I know the gangs could be but not right now, as they say “While the embassy did not provide specific incidents prompting the alert” that’s could be a real reason to leave and the last sentence they talk about Kenya… I don’t know why they’re here

Haiti is not a safe country but okap is better

While being in Haiti is probably not the best idea, you can't say someone is stupid for following their beliefs. Many go there as missionaries, humanitarian workers, etc. They feel it is their calling in life, hard to call someone stupid for that.
I frequently say people are stupid for following their beliefs. In many cases it is a simple fact, like people still in Haiti. Since that is my belief, you cannot prove it.

You are not only wrong on most occasions when you don't use chat or Google, you are ignorant. Believe that and be ok with it. It's a simple fact as you say. That's my belief and opinion.

Only a senile old man holds his own belief systems, dogmas and preconceived notions about life, people, situations, etc. to be the true litmus test, Mr E.

Could be right, however, they are my opinions and views on life. I'm not interested in an avowed atiest or one that has stated"he has no soul". No empathy. No love of man.
You on the other hand has some intelligence and background that suggests your opinions have thought put into them with a slice of humor.

Opinions of experiences we haven't had are generally useless. That's universal. Btw, who is this? I don't recognize you by your compliments of my style 🤣

I have no problem with people following their "calling in life" provided they are willing to die
for those convictions. However I do have a problem with those who are not willing to make that
sacrifice and expect our US taxpayer funded service personal to help them when the going gets
tough. Can't have it both ways.

Anyone ignorant enough to remain in Haiti is also stupid. I am almost never wrong. I do not follow belief systems. I follow facts as an objective realist. If I am proven wrong, I freely admit it. Things that need faith or belief in that sense, cannot be proven to be true.
