Locally assembled "new" Motorola V3's are now around 3000 Pesos (something shy of USD 100.oo). They have a mediocre camera, some mp3 playing ability and silly games and locally considerd "catche", "chevere" or "alante-alante"... meaning cool or hot, which ever you prefer.
The cheapest reasonable deal is a new version of the old basic Nokia at Orange, which sells for 795 Pesos INCLUDING a new number AND 200Pesos calling credit. Has a b&w screen, no camera, no toys but better signal reception than the expensive Motorola. They are not considered cool nor hot at all by the locals and some may be offended by been given "una cosa de esta, tan fea y sin na'a".
