We here in the US are having this plan forced down our throats. The bill is so huge that not even the lobbyist have time to read it all. Dems are saying that reform in our health care is needed to lower costs. My thougts are that a great place to start is to not look at just insurance companies but to look at the medical industry as a whole. Doctors, nurses, drug manufactures, etc. all are very high incomes. Plus we are expected to pay for insurance for all the illegall aliens in this country. There are too many other things to correct before we (and our future generations) are forced to pay for this as well as the bail outs.

I think you are confused Cinderelli; this is not the same bill George Bush and his croonies forced down our coletive throast in his first period, the one that forbid medicare to ask for better prices from the pharmaceutical industries.

I don't think there's any provision to force people to pay for cost incurred by ilegal aliens.

Dont worry about it because now that people have begun to wake up and realize that this is an aweful proposal, and just an attempt to turn the US into a socialist nation. The US health care system though not perfect is still the best in the world. Most Americans can see a specialist in a day or 2, How long does it take in Canada or England? Why do most Canadians with some $$$ choose to travel over the border to get treated?? Well back to the topic at hand, This bill will never pass because whoever votes for it will most likely be commiting political suicide. Obama will be the only one drinking his own coolaide, and ensuring he is only a 1 term President, Thank God

The only one drinking cool-aid here is you. Stop eating the "socialism" bs that Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Michael Savage and Hannity are vomiting.

I admit I have not read the bill, but I don't think expats will be required to have health insurance, if you don't live in the U.S. why would they make you pay for insurance coverage here? Doesn't make sense.

As for the illegal aliens, they'll just continue doing what they already do which is to go to the ER. We are already paying for the insure with higher premiums and deductibles.

Our current insurance system needs to be reformed. I'm currently pregnant and if I still used my employers insurance, which I paid a premium of $350 biweekly just for medical, I would have an out of pocket expense of $6500 just to have a natural birth delivery. That's insane.

Why are folks against the gov't option, but they are ok with having corporations deciding what they will and will not cover based on their profits not what's best for the patient.

Until a law is passed in the US it is premature to speculate as to how it would affect you. However, I can tell you what the law is now.
Medicare does not apply outside the US and I doubt it ever will.
Most non medicare health insurance applies outside the US and most will pay up to 80% of charges.
A law passed many years ago prohibits any renunciation of US citizenship to avoid US federal taxes or penalties.

If this bill and this healthcare plan is so wonderful, then why are the people who are campaigning for it not required to be part of it? Why do they get to opt out and have their own healthcare program and we don't get that choice?
When I think of goverment run healthcare, I think of the Veterans Administration!!!! I don't think there is a single person that would go voluntarily to a VA hospital for treatment. And these are the people who should be held in the highest reguard for being taken care of!!!
I may be wrong, but the goverment has a say in the healthcare of those that are on welfare....ask anyone of those people if they are happy with it, AND THEY AREN'T EVEN PAYING!

I agree, there should be some kind of national healthcare for those who can't afford a health plan. But I do not agree that they can tell me that I don't have a CHOICE. If I remeber correctly, I live in the United States of America, where we have the RIGHT TO CHOOSE!!!!

If the goverment wants to control cost's, dictate to the pharmaceutical companies how much they can charge. A doctor visit and antibiotics in the DR cost me $50 for pink eye for my daughter, all in one trip. How much would that run me here? Co-pay for antibiotics would have been $40!Pharmaceutical Companies post BILLIONS in profits every year. I would love if all politicians had to make their portfolio's available to the voters so they could see everything (I don't even want to see the dollar amount's, just who they are invested with). Ummmm, I'd be willing to bet there would be alot of oil and pharm. companies! I have no problem with companies, or someone making a profit, but the goverment has no right to tell me I have to agree when they are taking millions from the people who put us here!

I know this is a long post, but personally, I'm tired of paying for everyone else!!!! More $ for a hospital visit so they can make up for those that don't pay! Taxes that are alway's going up to support people who don't work or contribute to society! Pharmaceutical companies making billions, but retired or lower income people can't get the medication they need.

I agree with badpiece for his statement of socialism. I believe that Obama is a socialist president standing under a democratic flag! And personally, I have a problem with that!!!!!!!!

Did you research the costs of having a child before you chose pregnancy?

well, Badpiece, I personally think that the US would be really really lucky to get a Canadian system.... so if I called my Congressman and Senator, which I do still have, then I don't think it would to be express the vote that you all would want

I was just express the thought that you all are already HERE and have already LEFT since it was ALREADY too much control, too much government for you there

so I wanted you to remember that before you had an attack or something......

tranquillo.

The reason I bring up Canada is the current bill being thrown down our throats is based on the Canadian system.

I'm still in the US for now and I would like to maintain control of how I deal with my parents lives when it comes to the end. I don't need a govt official telling me that my mother should or should not be given a medication or a procedure to extend her life because to him its not a fiscally sound move. Tell me one good thing that the govt does well or within budget? If this bill were passed unemployment would go thru the roof.
