Is Sun Village Beach Resort still closed? Is there another hotel in the area where Sun Village used to be?

We're going to Puerto Plata, and that's the best hotel we've stayed at. We had stayed at the Bungalows, but I'm not sure if those still exist either.

Thanks.

Hi,
I always stayed at Sun Village and the service was always great. It is now called Holiday Lifestyle or Lifestyle. It's been renovated. The price went up I got a quote last week about 91 dollars per day.

Sun Village will be named Ambar Bay (by Oasis Hotels) and open in December.

The Bungalows have been leased to Lifestyle Holidays (Hacienda Resorts) and are open, they are now called the 'Presidential Suites.'

You will not get those at $91 per day, it will be much more.

Thanks for the info.

In Cofresi I also recomend the Riu Bachata much better service than Riu Merenge or Mambo, though the beach, bay, and mountains in the back ground are spectacular and make you ponder why can the goverment retain such beauty for the common Dominican people to contemplate and enjoy.

Thaks for the clarification. Though, Riu is only 5 minutes from Las Haciendas.

I also wanted to share with you a little "best kept secret in Cofresi", I think so.
If you want to be away from the regular all inclusive crowds and want a more tranquil place that overlook the ocean from a hill, go to Los Altos de Cofresi. Los Altos the Cofresi is an away from civilization private residence area with many sparse homes or villas own by expats. This little hidden area is mistical and serene. Once you reach up the hill, there, you feel sooo peacefull and in tunes with your sorroundings, not a single loud noise or loud music.
So there is a hotel up the hill overlooking the ocean. Its design is not the best and it's quite isolated, but I recomend it if it is solitude you're looking for. The residents and area guests can use a trail to go down (in 5 to ten minutes walk) to Cofresi beach, Ocean World, or the Haciendas and get a day pass.
