nop. I settled for this name because it was common among pakistanis and dominicans. If he has to live among dominicans then he must have a simple name that everyone can pronounce and accept. I hate it when parents come up with stupid weird names for their kids and the poor kids have to suffer all their lives with that name.

It appears to be a photo posed in a studio and printed in sepia that was afterwards colored by hand. This was pretty usual up through the late '40's.

You are entirely correct. You can do all sorts of things with Photoshop or a similar program and a decent printer. But to make it really look all old-timey, you need to get the people you are shooting to affect that classic stern and frozen expression, as they had to do back in the days of tintypes and daguerrotypes.
The most beautiful thing for me in DR, is my family. Below my younger brother with my little cousin!

Having lived in the Samana peninsula and in particular around the Las Terrenas region, I always deemed Samana the most beautiful part of the DR. However looking at pictures of Jaracoba and my Dominican friends speaking of the beauty of Barahona ,makes me realize there are still there are many places I need to visit within this beautiful island (Haiti included)
