Yeah, I am tempted to show you some of my FB kids!!! WOW, that is funny stuff...

Yuh have to smile at this, you know? It's their language of the moment, and some are really inventive with symbols and such...Smilies? Nah, they invent or find different stuff.

I went to PUCMM Recinto Santo tomas de Aquino, and I can tell you that you do not pass Ciclo Basico if you dont write almost perfect in spanish.

mi amor escribeme en typanese

i don't have a university degree...just grade 12
i think i know enough to handle a decent conversation with one who is a little more literate than myself

sometimes i mis spell words or addd letters that shouldn't be there
i blame this on the rum and happy cigarettes...not my edumacation :)

i call this serious infliction
"Typanese"....:)

Yes that makes me feel better. I will call it "Typanese" I want to thank all of you who replied with all of the explainations. I didnt even know anyone had replied till just now. For some reason Im not getting the alerts from this thread to my phone like I did on the first thread I posted to.

I've started self teaching my self spanish. Quite overwelming I must say but its definitely a must for a number of reasons. Are theire any spanish spell checkers? Like online? Ive installed the spanish language pack for my email client but its not catching all of the words that my translater just wont translate due the abbreviations and misspelled words.

For example, mi amor sent this text when she changed her number...(dont ask) "Este es mi numero yo Iris llamame aki mi amor" My translate spits it out like this "This is my number call me I aki I love Iris" I think the word that's throwing everything off is aki but Im not sure if its a shortcut or a typo. I now understand that k is often substituted for que, but I have yet to figure out the word aki. Maybe aki is an expression of love in typanese yes?

Most adaptation of the language simply reduces the (more or less) 60% redundancy that written language contains.
This is a sensible strategy when transmitting information via a system like a phone network or the WWW/Internet that has built in redundancy (error correction).

No biggie - if you can still write the language correctly then playing with it seems reasonable.

Whatever "correctly" means develops too.

Why should young people not take ownership of their language?
It belongs to them.

Well, generally speaking it would be BUT the problem is text language is meant to ABBREVIATE. She didnt abbreviate, she MISSPELLED. There is your difference. You cannot misspell, omit, misplace and misuse several of the words by 1 letter and call that text language.

Agreed, not only she misspelled, but she wrote words in the way she most probably pronounce them, I'd heard many people pronouncing those words the same way, just lack of education and being ignorant of the language.

The rules for texting, where are they written? who wrote them? That is something I lack knowledge of.
