If it was for my head, it'd be half...the lady on the other hand uses the spendy stuff.

Yes, the taxes are insane (the almond milk is also about 2x what it cost in the states)

Where do you buy your almond milk in the States, if you don't mind my asking? It looks like it's converting out to about $3 per carton of almond milk, which, if it is a half-gallon carton of almond milk, is about what I pay in the States where I live. I agree, as well, about the Pantene. That's expensive!!!

Go buy the pantene shampoo and the almond at pricesmart the big bottle of shampoo is 180-200 pesos and almond milk 600 for 6 liters.

Jumbo/nacional are the worst ladrones for imported stuff!

Last week when Jose Louis opened it's new location (the old Tropical supermarket) I bought skinless chicken breasts at 104 pesos a pound. The same day they were 143 pesos a pound in La Sirena. The next week the Jose Louis price was up to 129 pesos a pound and La Siena had a special on the chicken breasts at 119 a pound. In the meat section I found over all Jose Louis was lower priced. Will have to make a better list of products in the future. Isn't competition great.

I guess you have to live poor to not over spend. At la seraina tuesday is meat day and wensday is produce day. There is ground beef that gringos
will like in Jumbo in plastick wraped tubes it has a higher fat count good for hambugers. And it is only 50 a pound. I get 24 eggs for 100 in the
La padi in ssantiago as well as very good price on frute and random cuts of pork.you relly do not have to be rich to live here. Unless thy make it to
hard for poor people to stay in the DR.

Ah, yea, you'll find something nice for $800-1000 depending on where you are looking. Rent prices are based on the how drunk the owner was when he listed it, the rental agents mood at the time of signing an agreement, the length of time the listing sat on someones desk before being put on the internet, and timing of the full moon. Location, quality, comparable properties, amenities, length on the market have nothing to do with it.

If it is just you, $4,500 a month will do you well. If you have family in tow, then you'll struggle some especially at first.
