Sure Chip! Whatever you say is the truth and nothing but the real truth of us Dominicans in our own country! (We just don't know it yet or realize it, as we're too uneducated to make "sense" of it as we go about biz)
And for whatever it might be of service to you, that "family" you tout as living on the between USD$316 and USD$527, are just "poor" households that can't sustain a pole breakpoint above the USD$527 to be bracketed in the "low" income level... That means they're part of the 0.4% from the "poor" HH struggling to become "low" income or at least stay within the 0.6% closer to it... If they're ever to reach that goal and become "low" income HHs, they'll need to keep their HHI between USD$527 and USD$922 to be called a low income household...
You forget Pichardo that while my family is poor they are Dominican!
They may be poor but are not ashamed of it because their income is honest, something too many wealthy people can't say!
Also, unfortunately, according to your numbers they don't exist!
Finally, I have a new saying in Spanish: "mejor que te digan pobre y pendejo que ser tiguere y rico pero condenado pa' siempre.
Lo dijo usted. Tambien se puede decir: ''No hay peor malorgulloso, que el que no quiere admitir sus errores.
Whenever being poor relates to shame?
Oh! They do exist, just not where you and some others here want them to be! Again... Reading and using sense to see the 0.4% and 0.6% from the poor and the low income are where they belong and are accounted for...
You just won't get it because it will be admitting you were wrong, as it's the case of the other lot of pundits around here...
So basically, Picardo, if I'm an investor, you're going to tell me that 46% of the population is middle class and above (with middle class starting at over $1,000K per month). So, I do the math. The country has approximately 10 million people and I think, "ok, 4.6 million people make over $1000K per month." But in reality, you've decided that 5 million (hypothetically - I don't know the number for the extreme poor) don't count and forgotten to tell me. Your 46% is based on the 5 million people that count. So while I think my potential market is 4.6 million, it's really 2.3 million. You're neglecting to tell me the total population you're using to base your percentages on is called UNETHICAL. A snowjob, a lie, etc.
300/month is maybe 1-2 date nights per month in NYC and you arent going to per se, or peter lugars.
you are right it isnt apples to apples. 4 of us had a nice meal at porterhouse in santo domingo with drink, steak, and desert for 1200rd each. tip and tax included. That meal in NYC is 2500rd each at the same level restaurant or lower.
I had a dinner date at another steakhouse for 2500rd total, appetizers, alcohol, steaks, and desert.
As long as you stay away from the tourist and money traps you should have find good quality food at dominican prices. That being said you can easily find plenty of expensive places to eat.
But i dont think i have ever paid more than 3500rd for a dinner for 2 ever in santo domingo and i am not talking about eating at cafeterias. In NYC you can spend that on your drink tab alone
I've read a lot of topics on this site ,but this takes the cake. Santo Domingo is not an expensive city compared to where Santiago or La Vega I live on Chicago's Gold Coast one of the most expensive area in the US. I would love to know how a family can spend almost 10,000 USD in two months in a city like Santo Domingo, not Beverly Hills or London but Santo Domingo PLEASE!!!
I was not bragging I live in Chicago I know my city is the best. The reason is I pay 2,500USD for a studio apartment, and pay about 850USD for leasing my car including insurance also 400USD for parking.
"Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh,"The peace and quiet is very refreshing"!
Just got my 15,250 peso electric bill!gre:
You can rent a nice house for that!
