They don't infect anybody other than those locked in with them.

They aren't getting a break here - they're being 'locked in'
No interaction w/ the outside world --- unless vaxed

Not my game !!
They can have it !!

I agree with a previous poster that this is a nudge for more people to be vaccinated. I believe that I read somewhere that once the vaccination rate surpasses 70% nationwide, the restrictions will be eased. Don't quote me on this. I remember reading it somewhere. If someone knows the source, please post the link.

However, if this is their goal, it is working. Yesterday in the hospital in Jamao there was a glut of people waiting to be vaccinated. .....and that is after days and days when they vaccinated only one or two.

No, they are immune from many restrictions because the government and AI resorts want it that way.

AI Tourism dollars are more important. That has been obvious.

Remember, it only took once case of CV19 leaking from that Wuhan lab in China to get us where we are today.
Vaccines wane and don't last long, especially in older people

Yet, the people here don't seem likely to be outraged by it. I doubt they ever will be outraged regarding the AI tourist situation. It just isn't something they think about.
Not only don't they think about it, I doubt most even know about it.

What is the length of mandated self quarantine for exposure to covid?

I know that 10 days is plus a negative test if you are sick, What if you are known to have been exposed?

In theory if you have been exposed it's been said repeatedly you should quarantine for 14 days. Whether or not 14 days is too long or not long enough probably depends on a persons overall health?

Not sure about tourists facing the same restrictions as locals.

Today, for the third time since the implementation of this mandate, I went to withdraw money from this ATM machine located inside a casino that mostly caters to tourists.

And for the third time in a row, the same security guard just looked at my Canadian passport for 2 seconds and let me in.

I'm now convinced this security guard just doesn't care about the mandate, he just wants to LOOK like he is doing his job (like many others who are mandated to police people for this Vax card).

This nonsense has been going on for over one week now.
I have yet to be asked for my ID/Test/Vax Card, lmao.

I was denied entrance to one place last Tuesday. Today I walked in liked I owned the place. Go figger.

One thing I think is that some of the big stores are realizing they could permanently lose customers over this. I prefer credit cards when possible because cash is more difficult to get here than in the USA (mostly f'd up or empty ATMs). But we bought quite a few things at a local colmado and may never go back to the big stores again for some of our stuff.

Some people only frequent restaurants and bars....................
Some people have done small favors for others in the past and some people know how to remember a person's name when they say good morning to them almost every single day for the last 6 years.
Head down, chin up, the wink and the nod. It's a Dominican thing.
My bank, big supermarket, local colmado, restaurant or anywhere I need to pay a bill... I've not been asked for anything in any of the businesses I frequent nor will I be in the future.

As often you live in an alternate universe, or do your business in a barrio colmado.

I am always asked for vaccination proof, never id at Playero,

Many Dominicans I talk to support the gov. vacc initiative and have no patience for non vaccers,
This also includes people with lesser education.
Vacunate ya!

BS.
I used to live in Sosua.
Dominicans where you live have an 8th grade US education. Many Dominicans I talk to have no patience for gringos who constantly
try to belittle others who they disagree with.
You live in Sosua, lol.
Give it a rest.

A quick poll of Dominicans I know and have recently encountered shows a majority, in recent terms a landslide of support for vacunas. Similarly most people round me wear masks indoors in public settings, gov't buildings and as requested or demanded. No one is make a big deal about it, that's for DR1 gringos lol. At home, around neighbors and family no but in businesses and banks, etc. in the city almost 100%

Some of these Muppets who live here seem to think each time a person has or shares an experience they disagree with or can not relate to, it's wrong think?

Lol, not at all. One of the main reasons I live here is their laxed attitude towards rules and laws.

Does that mean I am to blame for breaking these same rules and laws or are they to blame for selectively enforcing them?

Damn those non vaccers!
This guy is constantly making assumptions. He honestly has no idea whether or not I'm vaccinated or whether or not I just carry a test negative but he sure is entertaining isn't he?

He said that the country is in a delicate epidemiological and sanitary situation, but that the authorities seem to be unmoved, so he reiterated that he foresees that, in December, there will be an even more complicated situation so that it will be necessary to return to the restrictions of mobility. “This is what has led me to raise the concern of having a closed and sad Christmas,” he said.

And many seem not to support it. At least those in Santiago:
