Hi queridas!
What do you think what would be a fair good deal price for three pretty big langustas? Alive!
I`d insert pictures but do not know how.
Ciao!
I think it's crazy to spend what they do on lobsters in the DR when the ocean is right there.
Tell him 1000 for all three if he can't find any other buyer and they weigh more than a pound each.
Live Maine lobsters are on sale at the local market here in NY for $7.50/pound. They will even cook them for you free in the store. That includes shipping them more than 350 miles, keeping them in a fish tank and even a free pair of rubber bands.
BTW, I would give you a more useful answer if I knew the going price for lobsters. Mike l, WW, can you give us some idea of an actual price per pound? We know that we should negotiate, but it would helpful if someone knowledgeable gave us some idea if we are actually negotiating a good deal, or still paying "gringo premiums".
I bought some a while ago on the autopista, and after hard haggling ended up paying 150rds per pound. I also had 3 lobsters... one huge one and 2 midsizes and these came to 9 pounds in weight.
Do not thaw the frozen ones, before cooking as they will become a mess. Just throw them in frozen, or even better throw them on the grill with some nice herb butter.
Good luck
3 lobsters weighed in at 9 lbs? and one was bigger than the others? That would mean one was at least 4 lbs...that's HUGE!!!
wow... no mine was longer than a foot, but nothing like that.
and yes, I would normally also cook them before freezing.
btw... anybody know whether you can fresh mussels here? I know you can get them frozen, but I do not think that is quite safe.

I think mussels like colder waters... never seen fresh mussels... the Belgian speciality :cheeky:
