Best place to rent an SUV in Santiago? and driving in the DR?

I'm counting down the days til Im reunited with the beauty of the
DR I think since Im going way out into the mountains it is advisible to get an SUV any good rental places in Santiago?

Also is driving in the mountains better than lets say driving in Santo Domingo?

Depends!

Driving in the mountains may be better than driving in SD depending on the day of the week, the time of day,and how many trucks are on the roads.
