This is for some of the newer members to DR1.
I'm more recently working closely with several dominicans. Mostly they have been doing secretarial type stuff for me. A couple of them are women you'd probably consider very attractive. This is here in Santiago.
I have been astonished at the lack of education they demonstrate. Some examples:
- don't know how to use the phone book
- are unable to plan things more than 2 steps long
- cannot write in spanish
- do not know how to use a computer/the internet
- don't like to strain themselves in terms of thinking
- can't organize themselves at all - everything ends up written down on thousands of scraps of paper
I'd say the level of functionality I'm seeing for some people here 20-23 years old is that of a 10-12 year old in Australia.
I want to stress that this is not the upper class type of person, but nor are they poor. I would say they're middle class in this country.
As they say, love conquers all. But buyer beware - if you bring someone of this level or below back to the US, it may take a lot of effort to integrate them.
