If you are flexible with dates you can get some real good prices in PC. But you have to put in some time. Not just go to any date and any hotel............If you go to the link in my post above and scroll down you will see some prices you don't believe. But they are available...........

The Punta Cana area doesn’t really have a low season. What they consider low season is a part of the year that Punta Cana still see a greater volume of tourists than several other tourists areas of the DR such as Puerto Plata.

Look at the average hotel occupancy rate in PC. They find enough people to stay in their resorts that I don’t remember ever seeing Punta Cana referred to have an occupancy rate under 70% (not counting the Covid ordeal). It doesn’t matter the time of year, it’s always above that.

Punta Cana has a high season and a higher season.

This is not true for Punta Cana. End of summer into September you can normally find decent prices. Also, is a bit slower, not as many tourists. So much so that many of the resorts go down to a smaller staff during that time of the year. Just depends on what properties you're looking at.

just entered the link and it shows 777$ / Night !? and this is a 3.9 *** Review Hotel 3.9 Stars is as lousy as it gets for resorts in punta cana.
Go directly to the hotel website. I find that prices are cheaper when using the hotel website rather than something like TA. And don't trust the star ratings on TA, they are not really accurate, good and bad.

Yes time of year matters, as does the the time of month in many cases, but you can still find many lower end resorts with price points in the $1,500-$2100 range for two for 7 days. But, for the most part, you get what you pay for.

My two favorites are Tortuga Bay (not an AI), and Hyatt Ziva/Zilara, but they are priced well above most of the other resorts and for good reason, they deliver an excellent product

That has also been my experience both with AI's and non AI's.

However, if you book via Costco Travel (need to be a basic Costco member $65.00), they provide a nice "Shop Card" rebate that in the end makes them less expensive than the usual sites including the hotels website and including their annual fee. Additionally, they provide gratis private transfers from the airport (not a shuttle bus) to the hotels for those flying into PUJ,

Finally, if you book via them and the price drops on their site, they will honor and refund that amount to your credit card.

I will keep loving and spending more time in beautiful Marco Island Florida with a great beach on the Gulf of America and plenty of full houses to pick from.

A couple of points: Gulf of America? Why would you be interested in staying in a full house? What is the connection to the DR?

Here is an example of price differences based on the dates you book for Dreams Macao Beach. For 7/18/2025 - 7/21/2025 3 night stay 2 people it is $1173.00. For dates 9/12/2025 - 9/15/2025 it is $999.00. These are entry level rooms for the most part but there is a price difference. I checked a few other resorts and basically it is the same thing. Once you get into late summer/September you can see the price difference.

Anything more than $140/night in Punta Cana is too much.
Raising prices to the cost of resorts in the 1st world or more is a recipe for ruining the whole tourism industry
