To me all the tourist deaths were heavy hearted.

The couple who died together or simultaneously however you want to call it really perplexed me. The explanation provided by the DR authorities stating that the other died by the shock of looking at a dead body is ludicrous. Any future trip to the DR for me is being put on hold until a proper explanation for that incident is given.

...dying of shock in the DR ….probably is a natural cause of death...….

… the closing of hotels is due to lack of tourists... this was caused by some countries (one in particular) putting every death of tourists in the media, and maybe embellishing the facts..one of the first ones ,was a American woman, assaulted and left for dead at majestic elegance, Punta Cana... If these same people who have access to the media want to do some real damage, they just have to wait about one month...and start with the tourist death stories again... causing major damage to the tourist season this winter...…..Doc...….

Includes unlimited wifi and transport to and from the airport. And of course the flight, probably the flight alone is $700.

Everyone with two ounces of common sense knows bad booze was the culprit in the mysterious hotel deaths...and most likely the reason no cause has been published. Think liability? Anger? Boycott?

I tend to agree that tainted booze is a likely culprit in some cases. Since that has been killing people in Mexico and Costa Rica, there is no reason that it couldn't happen in the DR.

Certainly problematic in Mexico at Mexican resorts. There resort employees used it for criminal purposes. The goal is to get tourists into a hospital and then they don't let you leave until you pay a huge hospital bill. The only people who did strong investigative reporting on it was the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

here is the proof finally the government admits https://dominicantoday.com/dr/touri...sitors-to-the-dr-from-january-september-2019/

I'm telling you a bad high season you better hold on to your socks because crime will increase 10 fold.... good thing is if you are looking to buy a house you will definitely buying power

Let me see if I understand what you're saying. Last year they took in 4.3 million in the first nine months and this year it was "only" 4.2 million and that's going to make crime increase tenfold??

That drop of 11K a month is going to cause havoc and mayhem?

I do business with large hotels in Punta Cana, so I know a bit what is going on. This right now is serious. They are firing people left and right now. Hoping that after Thanksgiving when the high season kicks in help will arrive. But right now you can show up at a hotel and name your price.

One more thing. The figures compared to last year do not reflect the new hotels opened since last year. So more rooms, less people.

its on the list for the top three possible reasons for the both of them to die at the same time.
but number one on that list, to me, is overdose. what i cant figure out is why would that, or bad booze, or whatever it really was, warrant a cover up?

I think you need to remember that the clientele at the AI's can vary in many cases.

They're not all members of the local Chamber of Commerce....

A net revenue drop of almost $US140 million is a big number.

Not sure how you got to that number
I;m not disputing it

But remeber the government's coffers
$10 coming in - $20 going out = $30 / traveler

Then the hotels etc ....
