20 new renewable projects accelerate energy transformation

The Dominican Republic is significantly advancing its energy transformation with 20 renewable energy projects currently in development. These will add 1,006 megawatts (MW) to the national energy grid.

This announcement was made by Energy and Mines Minister Joel Santos during his address at the business breakfast organized by the Official Spanish Chamber of Commerce in the Dominican Republic (Camacoesrd), titled “Government Perspective on the Growth and Integration of Renewable Energies in the Dominican Republic’s Generation Sector.”

Minister Santos detailed the nation’s progress in expanding its energy supply, diversifying its energy sources, and strengthening its transmission system, while also highlighting the improvements in efficiency. Anything that can be done to improve the supply of electricity is better than nothing in my opinion.
I agree, and on a positive note, we've been in POP since February, and we have had one apagon that lasted a few hours since then. Yes, the lights have gone out more, but just for a few minutes. We have no inverter, no generator and are managing just fine with a few power banks. I work from home and have had zero issues with power. Anyone feel free to correct me, but this has made me thinking that perhaps one big issue is not so much lack of power but the stability of the grid, which I'm not sure is monitored (at all)?

normally the power in Jarabacoa is pretty consistent, with no power for several hours every Tuesday and occasional on Fridays but for the last two weeks it has been off almost every day for a few hours to almost all day or night.

I had a few days of those 4 hour planned outages but we're back to 24/7 service.
