Suzuki Grand Vitara 2009 En Venta en Rep?blica Dominicana @SuperCarros.com - #248982

OK, I bought it and have driven home. Great car.
I highly recommend this dealer - Victo Hugo ( real name, no joke) was the salesman and this was his first sale. !!
I have suggested they advertise here on DR1 - we'll see.

Thanks for all your help - Robert, The comment about National having a fleet was a big support.
In fact, as I drove the new autopista y'day, I noticed that there is a fleet of Grand Vitaras for the highway patrol cars.

There must be something good about them - if only the price.

This car has tire pressure monitoring, trip monitor system, oil life schedule, XM, bluetooth - the works.
In No America I have a new Jeep - Overland Summit and this car is equally well equipped --- from 2009 !!!

I missed a real steal on the first go 'round but got this one (cost me $2k more) . That first car was mispriced.

Give this place a try if you're in the market for new or used vehicles.

How much was the final price for the car? They were asking $825K, Im assuming you negotiated? Im asking cause I am also looking for a vehicle and want to see how flexible these dealers are in negotiations.

I've seen that happen quite a few times. The vehicle's manufacture date can be much earlier than the year it's sold.

My Nissan Sentra was built in 2006(the last year they were made), but I bought it new in Nov. of 2009, so it was sold as a 2009 model.

I was looking at a 2012 the other day, and obviously it's the same thing. Yours was manufactured in 2007, and sold as new in 2009.

And 15k kilometers on the clock is silly low. It's still a new car! Good find, I'd say. You got a V6 for the price of a 4 cylinder.

And the export model has less emissions control stuff on it, if I'm not mistaken.

Thats right, no catalytic convertor, etc.
I was very deliberate about not buying a US/Cdn import b/c I didn't want that baggage.

The dealer also told me that the radiator is different - it will perform better in the tropical climate, more heat tolerance.
Maybe thats true but certainly the emissions controls are not on 'Export" models.

@lisaguess - they started at 790,000 I said 750,000 and they settled at 775,000.
Mind you I had my printout of the $18,000 car ( already gone but they didn't know that) and said I was going there next.

They knew i had driven from Cabrera - they're not stupid - they can smell a buyer.

Bluffing them w/ the other car went a long way.. + the 2008 gambit and it had a small dent at the rear.

Generally, I would say there is less negotiating here than the US... maybe tighter margins.
It is an island after all, not as many choices.

My other car came with me from the US and the Check Engine light comes on too many times, triggered by the catalytic convertor "lean fuel".

I check it all the time b/c one day that light will tell me the transmission is going to fall in 40 miles or some such impending calamity.
I have the code reader and carry it all the time.
