A report is circulating that indicates that the wages of 81 government officials are in violation to Dominican laws. These officers make more than the President and the Vice President of the Republic.
Sociologist Candido Mercedes presented the findings in the study “Advances in the Fulfillment of the General Law of Salaries of the Dominican State” carried out by the civic movement Participación Ciudadana.
The study reveals that 38.2% of these officials work in the Ministry of Public Works, while 30.9% work in the Attorney General’s Office and 13.6% in the Ministry of Education. Many of the officials make wages of RD$600,000 or more.
