Let me be clear, regardless how you feel about a situation or what your opinion is, there is a respectful way to respond / comment.
Maybe you are right ! But maybe being "Respectful" keeps them doing the same thing over and over again. Maybe if they would receive more negative treatment they would think about it twice. Who knows !?

You learn a lot about people that make comments with a total lack of compassion and decency in things like this……….
I agree. You learn so much about a person's business acumen when they direct others to spend money. I am also surprised Dominicans are so compassionate when they are being taken advantage of. Most hard-working people that make sacrifices don't like being screwed so to speak.

There a million of DR Citizens that are depend on the Health Care provided by the State. Believe me the are f.... enough already.
EVERY SINGLE HAITIAN MOTHER that goes to a DR Hospital makes this Situation worse. Have compassion and decency were it's belong.
Put on a helmet because here comes the truth; your son's brother's wife is a PARASITE , using a service she never paid for. Why didn't she go to a private Hospital and paid for her Procedure !? The don't look for illegals in Private Hospitals. Also why didn't you or anybody else of your Family paid for it !? I hope she has a nice Trip.
Calling human beings a "parasite" is Nazi language and Nazi ideology. But who is surprised, considering your role models.

My SIL is an OBGYN. She has her opinions on this situation. But as she said there are many things wrong with the healthcare system in the DR, Haitian women giving birth is only small part of it when looking at it on a large scale. But it is easier at times to blame the Haitian situation than it is to fix the system as it should be.

Many people here seem to have little thought for other people. It is not right that people who are illegal here should get unlimited care on your precious money, but once the women are in labour I would not throw them out on the street or into the back of a truck to give birth there.

My son's brother's wife just had a C section birth at a local BC hospital. She stayed in the hospital for at least one night if not 2 (not sure). She was deported along with the baby.

Anyone is welcome to guess where she and the baby are now.

My good Sir, there is absolutely nothing wrong with calling a spade a spade. The "Nazi" propaganda slander will not have it's intended effect on your fellow DR members/ this lovely forum.

All the best!

If you have 4 legs and make "wau wau" i call you a Dog, if you lay eggs and your 'husband" makes kikeriki i might call you a hen.
If you live your life totally irresponsible, multiplying like rabbit and expect other people to finance your behavior than i will call you a PARASITE ! Like it or not !

You should consider posting her suggestion/complaints.

There is more to the problem than just calling someone a "parasite". You can find this type of problem anywhere, women who are in an "illegal" status giving birth at a public hospital. It is not a problem only unique to the DR. Her (SIL) attitude is more of a "I am a physician; I am there to do my job whatever the persons immigration status is". She is part of a committee to help improve healthcare in the DR and improve the care for women. I will ask her what type of solutions are they (committee) purposing.

This problem is easy to fix.
The international community simply does not want to fix. It's almost like they want the Dominicans to suffer and therefor force their hand.

The phrase "it happens everywhere" (paraphrased above) often refers to the idea that a certain phenomenon or behavior is common across various contexts or locations. This can be used in arguments to suggest that because something is widespread, it is acceptable or normal, which may be a logical fallacy known as hasty generalization.

This is the DR, it happens so much here that it is a real budren on the system.

Winde, it is common. It would be OT to further discuss where and how it happens in other places. Do "illegal" Haitians burden the system, I am sure they do as do a number of other issues. This problem is nothing new. There is just more focus/attention on it now as opposed to previously.

The "International Community simply does not want to fix". Why should they ? True but sad, it really seems to be an established fact that everybody but the Haitians need to fix their problems. I do a lot of Business in Haiti and believe it or not, people already "praying" for another Earthquake. Honestly, i hear it all the time; "only another Earthquake can save us". They were bombed with foreign Aid from 2010-2020 ( more than 13 Billion). Why work ? Why improve your Situation by your self ? Haiti is the best Example of how to much foreign Aid can destroy an entire Nation. Haiti is addicted to foreign aid like an alcoholic is addicted to alcohol. The only way to save an alcoholic is to remove his access to alcohol.
