Sorry to disagree but the problems in Haiti will definitely hurt the DR because I wouldn't be surprised if we're going to have an Exodus from Haiti into the DR. It's only been 6 days after the quake wait a couple of weeks more when the despair really starts!!
The relief workers for R&R most likely will be going back to their home country, they want to see their loved ones too after seeing so much misery and if they do come here than the AI resorts will benefit but not the country

Short-term, the DR medical field will be challenged because they themselves are understaffed and under-supplied.

But I think in the long run this is going to have a good economic outcome for the DR.

Right now tourism is supposedly slumping in most parts of the island.

All of those relief workers looking for some R&R-where is the nearest place for that on the island of Hispa?ola away from the devastation?

The DR, right next door. And the longer they stay the better it will be for DR tourism.
