A lot of businesses closed in Sosua
It could be the twenty waitresses and single men eating Pizza.
Before you know it there could be dancing, and all hell brakes loose.
Also Las Terrenas may complain about unfair competition too close to them, Pizza - Pasta you know?
The ONLY reason you good folks are having a problem trying to "figure out" what reason will be used to shut the place down is because you are using logical thinking. Throw the logic and common sense out the window and it would be easy.
1. Too many girls
2. Not enough girls
3 Too many gringos
4. Not enough gringos
5 Music too loud
6. Music too soft
7. Open too early
8 Open too late
etc. etc. etc.
Turn Dominicans from being Vegetarian to Vegan.
Urban Yoga classes chicas in Spandex chicos in Lululemon.
Turn motos in for carbon fibre road bikes.
Exchange high heels for roller blades.

You may be onto something here, get rid of those muffin tops, and start a new trend.
I understand everyones amusement at the steps being taken, but such things are not at all the motivations involved in this situation. The motivation is urban renewal for people who have money to make more money. After that urban renewal phase is over, then what will be will be. More retirement villas and a few All Inclusive resorts, for example.
At this time we are merely at the beginning of the urban renewal and Lifestyle modification phase.

So, you really believe if there was all kinds of people investing money to make money, that they are going to let it to go back to the way it was? Considering they supposedly, according to you, are changing it for them, I doubt it. It's just my 2 centavos, but why, of all places, would anyone pour money into Sosua? Cabarete already has a bit of a "cleaner" rap than Sosua, and generally more Americans are already settled there, from what I have seen. Sosua is the sleepy/sleezy hollow of the North Coast, you can put an earring in a pig...

I doubt that things would return to a previous state if sufficient changes are made and paid.
I do know that in the real world, prohibitions are not totally effective.
I was out and about in a few parts of Sosua last night. There is no way Sosua is even remotely ready for retirees. The crap that still goes on....incredible.
On a bright note, it only took the police 10 mins to arrive and escort the bloody fella away.

I was chatting with the owner of Casa Valeria this morning. He says he expects that the restaurant renovation will be finished by the end of September, and he hopes to re-open in October.
And Restaurant Orchidee re-opens tonight, in case you didn't check our own high society newsletter, "Sosua News."

So they adding even more rooms to Casa Valeria? Casa Valeria was always a great place to stay but hard to book a room for any stay longer than 2-3 days.
I am not sure whether they simply upgraded the rooms they had or added more. From the street, it looks as if they added more. Even though I'm not in the biz anymore, I invited myself in for a fam-tour!
They completely demolished the old rooms and added more In the process. I guess arien isn't worried about lose of business, but he has a large European business in the winter along with Chica hunters. Chica hunters that stay there like a quiet atmosphere to come back too.
