This lady, and now Congresswoman, knows a darn sight more about prostitution in the DR and its roots than your presumptions. I wish her success with her project and hopefully she gets round to enlightening a few of the mongers like you and those who come to these shores as sex tourists seeking out such vulnerable women to go look elsewhere.

I doubt if I will damage my back preaching the gospel of 'enjoying it in a Dominican way' by encouraging visitors to travel out into this fine land and apart from taking in the sights and experiences, to frequent car washes and colmados and cabanas rather than always congregating in a couple of resorts which have become run down in recent years.

I don't get it, so you going to car washes and colmados, then using cabanas make it so much different and superior to mongers and sex tourists... !

Is this the recommended way, preying on innocent, normal girls, seducing them with gringo promises and passport to have an affair with you, then using them and when finished dump and move on to the next without making any contribution I guess - presumably as it is not a P4P !

At least mongers and sex tourists use the putas whose job is sex for money day in day out, however started, they do it for a living now, ordinary girls are not really their main target.

You Uzin.....presumably the meaning of your handle is now explained. And a break from Sosua to see life the Dominican way might be in order so you will quickly see it does not always have to do with exploiting women.

Not sure what happened to you in Sosua that you hate it so much, but I do travel around when I can and enjoy the country, always taking my girlfriend with me so I don't exploit anyone.

My basis of the comment I made about you was partly due to your thread about cabanas, where you praised their usefulness and how they serve their purpose for you (and I assume your affairs with chicas).

But we are getting too far away from the main subject of the thread, which is basically Sosua bashing of it's status quo and how the coming changes are going to save it.

A hotel shuttle would not suffice?

When I first came to the DR in 1986 (or was it '87?) and stayed at the former El Mirador (RIP), the resort had a half-hourly shuttle van to and from the beach which worked well.

Ever been to Hard Rock in Punta Cana? The beach is so far away from many rooms a shuttle is necessary.

A shuttle bus works for many. Casa Linda has regular shuttle service from their project in El Choco. They go to Cabarete, the center of El Batey and Sos?a beach on a regular schedule with several trips to each location daily.

El Mirador was one of the properties the developers were considering.

My simple point was , should Guests have to rent a car to get to the beach , from their Hotel ?
Come on, Every All Inclusive KNOWS this Simple Formula, you MUST be on the beach.

But in either case you can not get top $$ for a Hotel which is not a comfortable walking distance to the Beach.
Its not even in any realm of possibility. Even the Ocean View Hotels are Struggling .
SO i dont know what "serious investors" he is talking about , but i wish them well.
I would have Zero interest in staying in such a Hotel, unless the rates are really really good.

This is just more Fantasy stuff.. its getting silly already.

Danilo paid a surprise visit to Sosua today and it appears the tourist and community associations appeals have been heard.

More talk and no action? I am pretty sure any proposed school buildings will be completed. He does like those school buildings. All they need is proper teachers and equipment.

On the other topics like water, paving roads, new roads around the area, electricity, etc, etc, etc, I suspect just talk and no action.

For a resort like Hotel La Esplanada to be a successful, it must have several things going for it.

Sunny Winter weather.
-The North Coast is very Hurricane free.

A nice Beach, Ocean View
-never gon'na happen
-without a Beach... Families ain't comin' (unless there ultra-budget minded)

Things to do.
-AI provides drinks, food, pool (and a BEACH)
-non-AI need Restaurants and Bars near by

Come to think of it.... Monger Hotels don't have a Beach
And there are of those Derelict bars near by.....

I think that the operating hours will eventually go back to the previous times. And I wholeheartedly believe they should.

"Not finding much support" is an understatement. Their support is disappearing faster than cotton candy in a wind storm.
