Government justice and police system entities carried out a major raid in the Capotillo sector on the banks of the La Isabela River in the northern part of the National District. The Attorney General Office was represented by 45 prosecutors, and the National Drug Control Agency, the National Police and the Dominican Army put over 600 troops into the operation.
The twin objectives of the operation were to provide a safer, more peaceful environment to the neighborhood and to proactively fight crime.
As a result of their searches, the agents found drugs, money, and illegal slot machines. In a somewhat surprising discovery, the police and army units also found and seized a series of CCTV cameras that were in place illegally, and which were reportedly used to keep track on police and community members.
