Jetblue is making a hub in Newark, all we know that Continental used it as a hub

Jetblue might fly soon from Newark to Santiago, its already flying JFK-STI nearly 2 years.

Not a rumor. Sometime last year, when Jetblue announced that they were coming to EWR, they stated that they would start with flights to FL and San Juan, and later expand their service to the caribbean. You should be able to find the actual newspaper article in the Newark Star Ledger, if they still have it archived.

Well this is great news but it wouldnt make any sense for them to add the flight in EWR when they know that CO is not doing extremely well in the market and they in JFK alot of times sell out their flights. It will make more sense to add the flight to JFK. Just my opinion but more service the better it is. It would also be great if BOS - STI were added they already offer a convinient connection.

I'm sure that before they add service from EWR to STI, they would do a study to see if there are enough passengers available to warrant doing it. There are a lot of people in NJ (me included) that drive to JFK because the availability of flights at different times of the day make it more convenient when scheduling short stay trips.

CO may not be doing well, but that doesn't necessarily apply to their DR routes, as every flight of theirs that I've taken to SDQ, STI, or POP has always been close to, if not full.

I agree, it seems CO does a good job of manageing their routes to the DR. They always seem to be close to full, but yet they aren't overbooked and forced to give away vouchers for voluntary bumps.

to me it doesnt make sense..when AA is filling up 3 or more planes a day to santiago alone....and jetblue is getting the leftovers with their stupid late hour flights... they would fill up their planes if they offered times closer to being reasonable.....I know they moved some flight ups...they used to fly at 1:55 am...now I see they offer a 9:30pm ish flight....I have been looking hard at it...even though it gets into STI at 2am!!!!! it kinda sucks to wake to whole family up come 3 am when you come into the house...the dogs start barking and they have to unlock the noisey front door!!!!!! plus you are just gonna go to bed anyway.

Hummm, I don't know if that's good or bad! Honestly, I probably read something in that paper once a year.

Leaving JFK at 9:30PM is not terrible when we're not an hour behind. Flying back from STI in the middle of the night and getting into JFK between 4:00AM and 5:00AM is what sucks.

Reason for jetblue redeye to STI

Jetblue is, at least right now basically a domestic airline.... so they focus on domestic flights.... they have between 6 and 7 flights a day to fll from jfk for example...

the thing is that jetblue does not (according to them) have available equipment for the jfk sti route during the day....why???? if they have over 80 a320????

well... sti is a seasonal market in which jetblue does not make money all year round and they prefer to give the service during the night..........

If EWR-STI comes about, i hope it is not a crazy redeye like jfk-sti... although i wouldnt be surprised if it is....

SALUDOS!!!

What I meant was that it's now called The Star Ledger. It has been called The Newark Star Ledger for years. I wasn't putting down the paper.

No problem Rellosk! I was just wondering if it made me old or young. lol

I just don't read it much, because it doesn't include much about my area of NJ, so I stick with something more local.

It would definetely be a red eye. what would make people think otherwise? The only reason I see Jetblue flying this route in the morning (maybe) is if Continental decides to discontinue service betweeen these two cities and B6 picks it up. If anything they should put the flight in the morning for JFK where they know they might have a better market rather than wasting a plane on something that they are not going to be sure if it is going to work. STIOP I definetely agree with you.
