zoomsx11,

solar is they way to go, less danger and complications from the structural point of view

roof made from solar panels, available now, problem is many in DR may not like USA style roofs for their houses

It should be required by law that any new house/building must be prepared for solar panels mounting and pipe for electric wiring

and developers should be requiered to offer a turn key solution at the market price, to be included in the mortage, what is the problem?

You're funny! Do you have any idea how things work in the DR?

My aunt had one she cut the cord off of and sat it on her wood stove to heat it up between swipes across the clothes.
But the gas stove would be a better one.

my mother and ironing do not go well. for some time she ironed once a year, when she prepared clothes for new years eve party. about 10 years ago she said "of, f**k it". now she buys new outfit (including a shirt for dad) every year. no more ironing ever again. oh, the happiness.

i think our mothers should meet. my mom decided to reject christmass too. she opens some cans and jars and cooks just few dishes. no more frantic cleaning either, she watches telenovelas and lets dust bunnies play. she'll be perfect here. it would inspire her to be lazy.

She said you know about as much of how a home electrical system works as you do about CNG & LP in a vehicle.

You remind me of a former poster who ate pine nuggets and talked about stuff he only knew about from googling, yabadabadu...

looks like you have been tracking me, get a life... or at least make a logical contribution to the thread, if you can

if you want to seriously debate, pick and choose your topic, any topic, except about snakes, i find them repugnant, even looking at them

When i lived in a big torre in santiago never had power out bcause of generator never a trouble for me. Now in other places sometimes.

What bothers me , more than the power going out, is dont electricians over here think about where to put light switches ? Always have to walk across the room to turn of the lights. Plugs in bad strategic places. Ive seen it so many times. And why is there always 2 switches where only 1 does something.

I did not try to say

"preinstalling solar", but solar ready

I did say if the buyer wanted solar totally installed, it should be offered in the same way some developers/builders include water heater and other items

in apt building they include emergency generators, why?, in some cases they must

in other other words I notice new house buyers need to install additional infrastructure to survive in it, mainly water system, electric system

they should be part of the house from the bigining, just like the toilet and the faucet to hook up the washing machine and hose for the garden

cars can be sold without emergency tire, but they are not

Tracking? Hardly.

I just have a strong memory.

cobraboy,

tracking can be done from 'a strong memory',

just use it for positive contributions to the thread, or

what are you trying to acomplish?

are you bored or driking too much?

I don't drink.

But I DO use proper grammar, sentence structure and punctuation.

It's just you seem like this little weird guy, yabadabadu (or whatever) who made all sorts of absurd comments about *how* things should be done in the DR, like the DR is a Politically Correct Egalitarian Socialist Utopia run by kind-hearted NGO bureaucrats.

Maybe you should tell us the efficiency and water conservational dynamics of recycling our own pee or something. Maybe how we should use banana leaves instead of toilet paper, and use a pile of it for soil enrichment.

Besides, I'll do what I want on DR1 within the rules (if possible.) You have no influence on my actions.

We better now, Boo?

Something has got to improve re electricity prices/efficiency. $130 per month for a 1 bedroom.. mini A/c at night, fan, occass water heat..yes the generator the supports the place is nice and i guess costly, but still 130 seems a bit high.

It is high. A bill of US$ 130 is too much for 1 bedroom. Make sure nobody is connected to your meter.

Rates would go down maybe 30-40% if everyone paid for electricity.

But if everyone was forced to pay for electricity, there'd be, literally, riots in the streets.

Take your choice.

Jay, are you a standalone electric consumer? ie your electricity supply is just for you as opposed to a block of condos?

Edenorte has one meter for the block, but each apartment has its own individual meter.

The reason I ask is that I was renting an apartment with my own meter, but the whole block was on the same supply and hence there was no low rate.......everything was charged at the high rate because the usage was high.

I too was paying something in the $100-130 per month for same usage as i paid about $60 bucks in my house in the barrios.

I dont mind subsidizing the poor who cant afford these outrageous electric bills and as a result dont pay...Just another charity tax we foreigners who live here have to pay. The govt. here should recognize our contributions. I do mind subsidizing all the deadbeats that dont want to pay.
