I am sure that if I posted zillions of posts on ecology etc. the moderators would soon close me down. There is surely more to DR than shopping malls!

Most of Europe has good supply of medicines to the public health services. Free DR wastes money on malls.
Of course UK citizens may get free advice by telephone anywhere in the World...

Perhaps he should suggest the Agora Mall should be requisitioned for a hospital by the government and stop his posts. After WW2 when the health standard in the UK was much poorer than today many buildings were requisitioned for hospital services.
People should consider not going there.

It would be nice if the DR could open some shops with the clothing made in country. Bossini is more chinese junk. I hate that people in the DR have to pay so much for such inferior quality goods.

A lot of world brands are manufactured in the DR, but also a lot of "final stitch" is done elsewhere in order to claim origin.
Same for brand shows and leather goods.
Bossini is actually a very good quality product from HK. Compared to some other brands, the fabrics are above average.
From the look of things half of the stores and half of the fast food joints are "Pr?ximamente". If you are a mall person it is still not a bad place to spend some time and it did provide jobs for the youth.

The clothing is made on the mainland and is typical Chinese Quality (LOW).
Yes, many of these international groups flunk quality standards. Perhaps Zara is the most notorious.

I once bought a Zara shirt - one wash and it was finished.
Now I have a Van Huesen shirt made in England - 10 years service worn about once in two weeks - still as new.
Second hand they still go for a good price.

Finally went to Agora mall today. Sorry to say but I'm disappointed. Someone before made comments on engineers or arquitects that haven't thought well, and contrary to what I thought, he was right. Parking doesnt seem to have any structure. The finishing (terminacion) is far from well done. It seems they rushed to open. Broken ceramic tiles, unfinished borders everywhere, signs hung not straight, way too hot food court (besides having few restaurants), on the balcony you sit in the smell of the cars passing on Kennedy.
The biggest mistake (in my humble opinion) is to open while not done. I suppose the will fix the broken and unfinished things in the coming weeks but that fact that 70% of the stores are still closed (instead of 70% open as they announced) might result many visitors visit now, leave disappointed and maybe not come back in a long time...
I'm placing my bets on Sambil, at least they force stores to open at the moment the mall opens, are 98% done but will take their time to open with a finished mall.
Agora....too bad, not coming back soon. Even crossed the street to have lunch with the kids at McDonalds.

With the murder rate in Caracas, I'd say chavez gets very little right. I also have never seen a more disgusting and sleazy airport in my life. One of my team just got back from Caracas. . .because I won't go unless it is absolutely necessary.

One of the best statements I have seen made by a store is: 'aprovechese de nuestro c?modo parqueo subterr?neo' by Almacenes Unidos on Kennedy. That's the most uncomfortable, dangerous parking I've seen here. It seems parking for many is the balancing item in the budget. (there are exceptions: Blue Mall, Acropolis (after the investment they made last year).

Arrived at 10am, was rather empty.
Went down to 2nivel parqueo, looks weird that's true, no place numbers, no escalators?
Very nice looking, but as Mauricio pointed out, looks unfinished.
Not only because of closed stores, but there are still guys painting, fixing electricity, etc..
Of of the guys packing at jumbo told me about "averias"
Jumbo is OK, but I like the luperon better, on one level only.
Most stores are middle market stuff, and it sounds quite reasonable
Huge inditex offers, but at inflated prices (SpainX2, told me my daughter)
Purchased a pair of shoes, reasonably priced in the sport goods area;
Had a sandwich in Quesnos, good and a bit expensive, as expected

They should have waited 2 months more that's for sure!
But i think in 6 months all customers will have forgotten that start

LOL, especially the "Speed Bump - Three Way Intersection". It took me a few drive bys before I understood how this intersection is supposed to work. Oh I wish I had a picture of that to post.
I was at Agora Mall today at about 2pm. To me there were a lot of people. I did not have any great expectations but for me it was a pleasant experience. I live closer to Acropolis and Blue Mall but I will probably return to Agora Mall.
However, I did not drive and used other forms of transportation so the parking had no effect on me.
