Clone ..no clone.. makes no difference ....both are dead on IKS (DN)
Still waiting on the final decision as to Nova status ..but its quite evident if you have a Nova then you need to find another IRD.
With everything still being very unsettled..its best to wait it out.
Thanks

And while waiting enjoy some very good movies on Amazonas 61.W if you are lucky enough to have a receiver that has the fix. There are a number of HBO channels, many movies in English.

The sat is easy to locate with the strong signal from DISH 61.0W
Well worth the money for the linear LNB.

Correct...the Nova is officialy dead.
Yes ...you made a good investment on the linear LNB !
Best to have a stock of both types..Circular and Linear.
I dont think I payed over 600 pesos for both types...and they were the dual output type of good quality.

I'm setup on Hispasat and Galaxy 18 right now with the linear lnbs.
You may want to include Hispasat in your setup for backup.
Its easy to find and all you would need is a 3ft dish w linear lnb.

Enjoy

Hispasat is N3, what are you using to watch it?

I will try to get Galaxy 18 as it is not scrambled and only 4 degrees lower on the horizon and about 3 degrees to the right of 119.0W. Not sure if the adjustment on the Dominican dishes will allow me the extra lower elevation. My dishes are at ground level, so have to worry about my walls and houses getting in the path.

;) You sure go from one extreme to the other in your satellite dishes (30W to 123W). ;)

Anyone know of a place in the Santiago/La Vega area to purchase a good linear LNB?

O.K., I have been reading every post and I am one of those many people who will never understand the tech information. I wish I did. I live in Santiago and would like to know if a sat sysyem is available that can currently receive most of the major U.S. channels. Also HBO, Pay Per View, and the like. Please don't be to technical because it will be over my head. Gracias

I don't have a problem with buying a dish(s)and proper receiver for FTA. Is the current N3 problem, pay per view only? Is everything else received? And, I have high speed internet now for updating the receiver. If necessary I will pay someone to teach me. I just don't know what is the best hardware to purchase, who to buy from, and who to call for installation. I currently have cable and all there is is Micheal Jackson on CNN, NCIS, DR. HOUSE, and Law & Order. ENOUGH!!!!!!! PLEASE HELP.

Hi wayttogo
I would suggest just to wait it out as the FTA situation with N3 is volatile right now.
Channels are going up and down and sometimes freezing.
If you MUST have something right now ..then get an NFusion (Phoenix or Solaris)
as it seems to be the most stable right now.
High speed internet is great ..but note..LOL.. even a dial up connection WORKS.

Solaris is 7500 pesos.
The router will cost 2,500 (LINKSYS)
4ft dish 4,000 pesos
LNB 600 pesos
Cable 100ft 220 pesos

Thats it !
