I believe there are flight from Miami to Santo Domingo for about $300 round trip. I don't know if you need round trip or not, but a one way probably isn't any cheaper. I think it is with Aeromar Airlines. I looked in Travelocity.com. Just type in MIA and SDQ, but leave the dates open. Pick one of the available flights. A calendar will come up with available dates, and you can choose from those. Hope this helps.

www.aa.com (american airlines) often has weekly NETSAVER fares from MIAMI to Santo Dom. or Puerta Plata for about $179/RT. Also try lowestfare.com, http://travel.yahoo.com or travelocity. the airport codes are SDQ (santo dom) POP (puerta plata)

On rare occasions, it is cheaper (especially if you are coming from the West) to fly to San Juan, Puerto Rico and then take a "puddle jumper" to Santo Domingo. Always worth checking out. Have friends who come from Los Angeles via Puerto Rico almost every time.

Lowestfare.com

Beacuse of the merger with AA. Lowestfare cannot offer 25% discount on TWA flights to DR any longer. Now we are at the mercy of AA going forward. I hope new carriers start flying to DR, but from what I've heard AA controls the market. Love to hear from people who know more.

Re: Lowestfare.com

You are right! The judge threw out the "Karabu" or lowestfare.com deal..No more 25% discount on TWA. AA just increased the prices for the summer with fares going up to 800 dollars from Orlando to SDQ. They have increased the Miami frequency to five daily flights and they are upgrading equipment. The Caribbean especially the DR will be the money making machine for AA this summer. I heard Jetblue was considering flying into the caribbean but they didn't mentioned any specific country. Fly charter or Aeromar..If you can't, pray to God you find a cheap fare.

Jet Blue flying to Santo Domingo...

That would be a dream come true. If I had the $$ I would buy a plane and fly back and forth making a fortune along the way. Maybe Carl Icahn is reading this.

Re: Jet Blue flying to Santo Domingo...

Don't worry, Carl is offering 400 millions to any airline or startup that would honor his deal, I guess the guy never stops. I will try to find out more about Jetblue, will keep updated.

Travel agent said that you can only frly direct from either Miami or from New York....If one of these plases is easily accessable to you, you will have no trouble finding a cheap flight, it is when you are someplace else that it gets expensive. Good luck, and have fun
